Been wanting a gear head engine stand since the big block I built for the Chevelle got away from me on my shop built engine stand and put a small scratch on the back of one of the valve covers. Saw the slack adjuster mod on here about a month ago, mentioned it to a buddy, few days later he drops me off abrand new slack adjuster and S cam. My shop made engine stand was built with a solid pin for the rotating head, adding to the degree of difficulty in converting it. Monday night I was surfing CL and came accross a like new HF 1 ton fold up engine stand for $60. Went and bought it on Tuesday, and started the mod. Finished it up yesterday, really works slick. I drilled and tapped the slack adjuster for a screw to hold down the lock sleeve, makes it a lot easier to use, and is reversable if desired. Plan to replace the fixed wheels with casters. Can't wait to get the current 5.3 project mounted.
