Which one to choose. They both are right at 167ft/min have 6.0hp motors. The blower is not a plus for me as I already have one. The only real difference I see listed is the filter type. Is one type of filter better than the other?

Has there been consensus on the 1450 or 1680 being better as a whole?

I have the 1956, and it is a great vac. The 1851 is pretty much the same, but doesn't have the stainless tank.

Of your options, if you don't want or need the removable blower in the 1680, I would get the 1450. They both use a pleated filter, so I wouldn't pay much attention to the online description.

Ultimately though, if possible, buy the 1956 or 1851. More power = better. I bought a few actual Shop Vac brand vacs before buying the Ridgid. The ridgid is way better overall.

I like both the 1851 and 1956. Is there really any benefit of one versus the other? Of course other than SS is just nice to look out.

It looks like the SS 1956 has a smaller all around footprint. If that is the case I like it even more. If they made a 1 -5 gallon version with that same motor I'd be all over it. I don't need capacity. I just want super suction.
