Hey Guys,

As some of you know, I paint my tool boxes how I want. That being said, some are going to become Extreme Green. I refuse to pay $26 a can from SO and real PPG is too rich for my blood.

I'm thinking have my local ACE girl-friend mix me up some Rustoleum Oil Based enamel I can spray out of a HVLP gun.

Anyone know of a color or mix that would help me? I checked these threads, but may have missed it. https://www.google.com/webhp?authus...10,d.cGE&fp=5392e9a33a450dcf&biw=1360&bih=638

Thanks!

Ace will color match Rustoleum? That's news (good news) to me.

Don

At least at my Ace. They carry Rustoleum and the young lady, Justine, is knowledgable about paint and says her Ace brand is Rustoleum.

Redline, any idea how close that color is to SO?

I want to say that people have had very good luck with an off-the-shelf spray can color. Not sure the name, I'm sure someone else will chime in soon...Or you may try a search

Have you priced out some of the cheaper formulations? I've used some Nason Equipment Acrylic Enamel...not expensive and 500x better then Rust-Oleum stuff. IMO no difference between rattle can & rustoleum paint. Not to mention the quality stuff shoots much nicer.

Personally, i've been turned onto the PPG Shopline Urethane...Local DuPont jobber has b00bs working the counter..they used to be great.

No two mixes will be identical. Even if the same mix is used. There are slight variants such as humidity, pressure shot, tip size, ext. Close enough and blending are the best that can be done in the world of paint.
