I wish that I could do that at my house, but the city would have a cow.

Now that said, there isn't any reason why you can't do similar with a pair of sheds.

The only real issue I see with this setup is that it doesn't do much for waterproofing the container roofs. These see regular maintenance and are in movement, keeping water from collecting. I'd be tempted to add a small tilted roof out of panels above the containers, possibly with corrogate fiberglass panels. Easy, quick, cheap. And you'd end up with storage on top of the container under that roof for angle iron, flat bar, rebar, and square tube stock. Right now I store that under a shed that is elevated.

Where do you get the containers with a side-door? I don't think I've seen those before...

When I get a summer home, I'm going to have to create one of those, if it doesn't come with a barn...

That's pretty well done. Two things come to mind, though.

First, I would think you would have to be carefull about insurance. If it's not considered a permanant building, would your homeowners policy cover it?

Second, the rain barrel is nice, but highly illegal in Denver, and many places out West.

Otherwise, nice set up.

Some of the ideas he shows would make my shed alot nicer for working out of, instead of just storage. That swing out table is awesome and the large door on the side.

I don't know. You'd have to check your specific policy to see if the contents of outbuildings and sheds on your property are covered.

I believe he cut out that door then reinforced it. If you Bing. shipping container homes, lots of Ideas there..

You have to make them. I have a container here with a personal access door in the side.

You have to ask your insurance to cover the contents and explain to them about the conatiner.

The problem I see is those containers are friggin pricey. You'd be looking at about 6,000 for those two containers around here. They don't go much cheaper at auction either.

So really, you could have a similiar sized pole barn for the same price unless you score a wicked deal on those containers.

I like the design though.

If you can not get a permit to build it is a great option.

6k for two 20 footers?

Depends on what size. In vancouver, you can find the high cube 9.6' high, 8' wide and 53' long for 3K. 20 footers i've seen for under 1k depending on condition.

Man doors take about a day to install. There is two ways to install them.

1: cut hole and weld steel door frame into the container. (Easy and sloppy)

2: Build a 2x6 frame and weld in into the container first. Then weld the steel door to it. This is the way i install them. Then seal them up with body caulking.

Similar to what I did except I used the part of the container I cut out to make the door.

I'd love to find one that cheap, I could really use rodent proof storage out at my farm.

Here's one reference as to price for my area.

I've seen this setup on excavation sites. Lots of room to store stuff and gives the on site mechanic a spot to work semi-out of the weather.
