Are the Craftsman Finger Grip Socket Adapter (3pk) useful? Or should I buy the 1/4" SK palm ratchet?

Has any one used the Craftsman Finger Grip Socket Adapter?

This 3-pack of socket adapters includes a 1/4 in. male to 1/4 in. female, 1/4 in. male to 1/4 in. hex female, and a 3/8 in. male to 1/4 in. hex female.

Allows access into tight areas using 1/4 in. & 3/8 in. sockets

I had the 1/4 bit holding version (craftsman) and it saved my **** getting to a screw to open a panel where even my bit ratchet had trouble. For the cost I would get them. If I worked on cars for a living I would get these and a sk ratchet version.

Craftsman and the Cal-Van Tools Finger Socket Driver Sets look identical.

Very practical tool! I use my older version all the time. You get a pesky 1/4" or 5/16" screw buried in some corner - and it's gotta come out - the C-man tool is da bomb!

I'd rather have them, and not need them, than need them, and not have them...

It's kind of like guns...

You don't NEED a gun, until you NEED ONE BADLY!!!

I don't know about the adapters. But I got this finger ratchet from my friend J.A.F.E., and like it's been said, when you need it it's GREAT.

Has any one used both a Craftsman Finger Grip Socket Adapter and a 1/4" palm ratchet? Which one is better?

The Craftsman Finger Grip Socket Adapters do not have a ratcheting mechanism inside. Does this reduce their usefulness?

The the ratcheting action make a big difference?

I got these to use as a screwdriver in tight places. I have not used the socket adapter yet.

Uh, they are meant to be used with a ratchet, so yeah, finger use only does reduce usefulness.

They are basically a spinner adapter.

If you have to attach a ratchet to the Craftsman Finger Grip Socket Adapters, the combination of the 2 tools will not fit in tight spaces.

Ive got a set of those finger grip things and when you actually need them they are very good but I have had mine for 10+years and have only needed them once or twice.

I've used the SO spinner adapters for decades (Dad always had one on an SK ratchet, now I do the same.)

From what I can see, the OP's Sears ones are small OD which is going to give you slightly quicker spinning speed at the expense of less leverage. I'll stick with the larger OD stuff that can better accessed while attached to a ratchet.

I also just picked up some additional spinner adapters and a palm ratchet. Will post those in the new tool arrivals thread sometime soon.

I've got the ones that take the 1/4 inch bits. They have saved my *** doing interior work tons of times where I don't have the space to get anything else in there.

I don't own one of these yet, but I can see where these would be great when installing spark plugs on my old VWs and Porsche 914 where I like to finger thread them first. The knurled end would be much better than the slippery end of the socket. Gonna find me a set, but don't know what brand to buy yet. Are the CM USA made?
