Ummm, this thread was from 2013. There probably won't be many updates...
I would have replaced with Lexan. Easy to cut, shatter resistant but does scratch easier. You can get an 8 x10 piece in Lowes for $5.18. Window glass is not a good choice for a face shield. The original was probably tempered glass or something tougher than window glass. If something hits it it won't be pretty.One of the lens has broken glass (yes, it is glass, not plastic!)
Found a piece of broken glass and cut into the size. I am horrible in cutting glass.

On mod I made that I think might have been stock on some, was to replace the lamp socket for one with a switch and wire the socket ahead of the power switch. I can turn the lamp on and off without running the grinder. It is good for setting up or examining the work.
