I answered an ad for 2 Hobart welders for $350. I thought it would be a couple of 1950's boat anchor welders. I called the guy and he said he had 2 gas engine welders with 8000 watt generators that he hadn't used in a couple of years (like about 8 years). I bought them sight unseen over the phone. Imagine my surprise when I got there and received two of these:

I got there and he told me he had made a mistake, they were 10K generators. I couldn't hardly contain myself as I paid for them and loaded them up.

They were a little beat up, one has 249 hours and the other has 500 hours on it. Both had valve cover leaks and bad gas in the tanks. Got both running within 2 hours. Sold one the same day for what I paid for both. I think I have about $65 in the one I kept.

Gotta love Craigslist deals.....

OMFG . . . net out-of-pocket $65 to have 10Kw generator/welder combo !!

If you've got flatbed truck, you could have sideline business of mobile welder.

You seriously . . . on major scale . . . . ****, ****, **** !!

Good job on making your money back so soon. Around this area I see similar welders regularly as it seems every service truck has one riding around on the back, and they usually have something just as silly wrong with them from being out in the elements and not seeing much use. Prices I see are always cheap (<$500) bc usually those guys just toss them and buy a new one, and nobody else wants a gas powered welder thats usually stick only. I had a Miller Bobcat for awhile on the farm that had a bad breaker when I bought it. IIRC I paid ~$400 with <50 hours on the meter, but it looked like it sat out a few years. Ran like a champ tho and I made lil money when I sold it.

Southern Idaho, Twin Falls. I am a confessed Craigslist lurker also. Have found many a deal around here. Also made a few bucks on things that I would have never thought I would sell!

Awesome find.....

If you don't mind me asking....did the seller look like he would actually own something like that? At that price....'hot' comes to mind.....

The last thing you need is for the PoPo to show up and your in possession of stolen equipment.

Just looking out for you....

that purchase is deserving of "You ****!"
