I wanted a 20 ton press, but I couldn’t afford a $160 harbor freight model

So I picked up this used Enterpac air over oil unit at a garage sale for less. It’s not shiny new with china red paint that fades to pink in a few years but I will manage.

I am sure the harbor freight one would be easier to unload from my truck but the extra weight of this one will not be a problem.

I can easily live without the manual pumping and it will be nice to look at the gauge and see just how much pressure I am developing.

And I was looking forward to all that assembly work on the HF model, but all is not lost, I have to switch out the air fittings to my Milton H style plugs.

Ooooo... and foot petal activated... nice...

Yeah, after using an air press I could go back to a hand pump again... It is just too convenient... Especially when doing a bunch of parts.

Just like flea markets, you have to look at a lot of **** to get something good. This was an advertised moving sale with tools in general and that press in particular. It was a one day sale, Saturday 8-4 and fortunately it was 5 miles from my house. I live in the sticks so this rarely happens. I pull into the drive at 8:03, I walked in with $204 dollars in my wallet and walked out with no cash.

Along with the press I bought 2 milk crates full of trailer hubs, weld on spindles, bearings, ETC. a big USA wire cup, and a carbide sandblast nozzle and hose.

And $4 worth of shiny baubles to keep the wifey happy.

For every 25 garage sales that advertise tools 2 or 3 will have good stuff at reasonable prices. I find the best stuff when a 75 year old or older man is moving permanently to Florida.

When I drive by sales if I see rusty metal out front, my **** gets hard. If I see furniture and tables full of pink clothes I keep going.

All I have to say is "YOU ****." I waited for the HF 20-ton to be on a decent coupon...and thought I got a decent price, but if you got that for less than the coupon price of the HF, then you definitely ****!

1. harbor freight's unit is not red, it's orange :)
2. The 20 ton HF press has the frame already assembled (it's one piece), so all you have to do is add the hydraulic press and a few other bits and you're done.
3. You **** - that's a nice press! :)

they used to be red, or red ish. and they used to bolt together

Ok that's just my jealous side. Nice press!!! I see the hydraulic powered units on car shows and get press envy. I have press envy.

Where the hell you guys go to garage sales? The only ones around here are nothing but overpriced junk and kids stained clothes I wouldn't buy for grease rags.
