Two pieces of plywood, a hole the proper size through them, with the metal sandwiched in between. Clamp heavily using screws or bolts, through the metal if possible. Using a ball pein hammer, tap metal repeatedly until you have the desired shape. Do not BEAT the metal, massage it. This is called hammer forming, and I have used it to make many unique shapes. It can also be formed by pressing a piece of oversize urethane rubber into the hole to compress the metal into shape. A larger than needed piece of metal can be used, then the flange of the dome cut to size after forming.

This is an asian car. What kind of metal do u recommend. + thinking of ceramic coating when finished to hold out heat(?).

Tractor supply and Lowes have small steel sheets. Don't use galvanized. As far as coating it, what about the effect the heat will have on the surrounding car body, since it won't be ceramic coated?

Ceramic coat-
I just thought this would be a cool to coat it since I can and it will be off the car and will need paint any way.

The clearance was so tight with adding the CAT that I had to remove the top cover from the cat. I plan on wrapping the CAT in thermal wrap. There will be a lot of heat there but it is pretty much where the oem cat was.

Cut it in half or less than half to get your radius.

There are a million other ways to make that as well. I would probably shoot for a minimum of 1/2" clearance all around the o2. If it was my car, I'd move the bung.

The bung is now part of the custom CAT. I have put so many hours into it its a piece of valuable art. Where the bung is welded to the CAT case it would be very difficult to move....just not worth it.

Part of what drives me is the challenge of the fix then the fabricating and learning a new skill. Making this plug is doing that. kind of a PITA but an enjoyable PITA.

When I drove the car I just got tickets any way.
