Hi everybody this is my garage and a re-start of turning it into some functional and organised. as it stands now it is a small British Aladdin's cave of incomplete spanner and screwdriver sets and also consist's of an A+ series 998CC 1980,s Rover Mini engine and a 6 inch jaw'd vice both i plan to restore when the garage is complete. I will post pictures over the next few months and look forward to your comments and suggestions.
I hope one day to have a garage slimier in size to the ones i see across the pond in America-land keep it up guys love seeing your pictures and reading about your experiences.

Do you have the mini to match the motor? Down here in Australia we don't see too many A+ motors, manly just the earlier A series.

Thank you Wugamumtafish always good to see some Brits on hear because we understand the small spaces we have to work with. Although i do love seeing the huge garages across the pond. Keep up the good work guys where ever you may live.

Hi again guys i can tell you the size of my small garage it is 9 foot wide and 15 foot long  i think this must be up there with the smallest here.

day two has seen a continued cleaning effort and i have some pictures of the A+ sump which was built with the gear box inside. ive also got some pics of my old old Black and Decker bench grinder. there are many many other old tools which i will picture along the way.
I have also included my day 2 pic i am slowly making progress

Welcome MaleMan. I personally like the fact that your space is made of brick, adds some character to it. I look forward to seeing your updates in the future.

Do you have plans to put the motor in a car one day? Or is more for the sake of it?

Here is my 65 cooper s replica. It's an Australian built car with slightly worked 1330cc A series engine. As I said earlier, we didn't get the A+ here, but they are essentially the same thing.

That engine looks great i plan to restore mine when the garage is complete i am going to get the block reconditioned resprayed and honed im thinking of keeping it a 998 tho so no boring. The cylinders are still in good condition and i think it was a low mileage engine. i don't know what to do with it when its complete i think i will cross that bridge when it comes to it. the whole reason i brought it was for my love of cars and engines and i cant bear to see something with such great history left out side to rust because as with all classic cars and parts when the original stuff is gone that's it ....... its gone. your mini and engine looks great let me know if you need any parts and i can see if i can find some over this part of the world at shows or anything.

Maleman, very interesting shop.

Here's a friend's garage and shop in the island with a few cars that should catch your eye.

One of them (I recall the one in the rafters) is an Australian model, and I was reminded of this when I read your thread. They are all 1971 or older.

Andy

Hi everyone its that time again day 4 and anouther whole 40mins :bounce: spent in the garage.

Todays job Book shelf: it was out of some old flatpack furniture that could no longer be constructed  because the parts were made of MDF and about a year ago i returned half of the stuff needed back to the pulp of which it once came from................. i don't have the patience for IKEA so i made use of what was left tonight. It has turned out to be a perfect place for the collection of haines manuals the rest will be added tomorrow. :bounce:

all in all not much news in regards to mini engine and parts but each day is a step closer to the engine rebuild :D

Please bear in mind the book shelf isn't perfect but not to shabby for 20 mins work to put together :D

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the space. I'm also in Essex and am currently the custodian of a '69 Cooper S estate hatchback, so we have a few things in common!

No, no Austins/MGs other than the Mini. I think what you have seen in the pics is probably one of my Clios? I have taken some photos of the mini for you but rather than make a mess of your thread I have posted them on my build one if you want to take a look there!
