LOL, yep in my inbox at the same time was an email from Toolwarehouse about being "explosive." I think the marketing people need to get a little more creative w 4th of July catch phrases.

And yeah, I noticed the TT sale and thought, gee, Napa had those for $29.99 all of June. With everyone selling these so cheap, I have to wonder what their cost is? $15? What does it cost GW to make a set with China labor rates? $2?

I bet at $29.99 its pretty much at cost, no profit.

Great way to promote the product and the company basicly.

Where the profit truly is the individual wrenches. So sell the 7 piece set for cheap then wait for the poor suckers to buy the missing tools to complete the set. Profit+brand promotion, smart way to do it.

Yeah, I don't totally disagree and I've seen that theory posted before on why sets are incomplete. But I have to wonder........I mean it seems they mostly market these sets to hobbyists, Bob Vila wannabes etc....how many people that buy these kits for cheap are truly taking the time to source the fill-in wrenches? It just seems like the average target consumer will just find another way to get at the fastener if the size he needs didn't come in the kit. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'm guessing they must do some promo or kick-back to Napa for every set sold at $29.99. So brand promotion, absolutely. Hoping for significant sales of fill-in wrenches, I'm just not so sure.

Napa has those sets for 29.99 often, i would wait for one of their sales.

I ordered 5 pieces of this from Napa at this price. It's been a week now and they have not shipped yet. When I look at my order page on their site the status is " Picking ".

It's my first purchase from them. Are they usually this slow to ship. The order is to be shipped to Illinois.

Thanks

I have no idea. The last sale they had i just went into napa and bought both the metric and sae sets. They probably had 10 of each set. You would have been better off just going into a napa and buying them in person.

Oops, just noticed your in the philippines, do you have napas in the philps?

Nope we don't have Napa here in the Philippines. I just bought online and have these shipped to my address in Illinois.

I just emailed Napa and looks like they were out of stock but would start shipping again sometime July 5.

Thanks for the reply.

well I should have know I would have been better off buying the 12 piece metric set instead of the 7 because I ended up buying all the missing wrenches which ended up costing a little bit more.

I'll sell you a kit car which includes an alternator, water pump, one fender and three wheels. Don't worry, later you can buy all the other stuff from me - I'll cut you a good deal :D

I made the same mistake.

I now know it is better to just buy the biggest set possible.

I'm not sure if gearwrench even offers a complete set though.
