HDR Photography of my shop(s) and bench(es)

I've upgraded my photo gear to a new full-frame sensor Nikon, a better 14-24mm lense and experimenting with HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography software. So nothing like shop photos !!

Not my usual subject, (I tend to be a landscape photographer), but an upcoming trip to Wyoming will give me some alternate places to photograph in lower light.

HDR photography software takes 5-6 images at different exposures and combines them into one. It offers greater detail across the lighting spectrum and more closely approximates what the human eye sees.

So I wandered around the shop with a tripod taking photos of workbenches.

BTW, clicking on an image will enlarge it to get the full effect.

Now that's just beautiful.

Hard to try and tell supposed "photographers" these days how an HDR is actually made and yours look splendid. None of the usual ghosting from playing too much with the shadow/highlight sliders.

Very very jealous

Wow that's really a nice place you have there! I have never seen so many different tools in one garage and placed in such an orderly manner.

Currently I'm deciding whether to go with peg board or wall mounted plywood plates with nails in to hang my tools. Almost convinced myself to go with plywood but your nice photos has made me rethink this :headscrat

I'm a fan of HDR photography as well. As long as the pics dont come out too metalic. Great looking shop too!

Very nice indeed! Did you use a Tripod? If not then you will be even more amazed at the outcome. Pics and shop look really good though Sir!

SOOOOOO glad to see someone else with MY penchant for white pegboard!!! Love your photos and hours of trial and error tool organization. Makes my OBD shiver. :rocker:

Stellar workshop and photography, both works of art! Those speakers look like 4311 Control Monitors, got a pair myself and love them.

Love the photos, love the shop! Nice audio gear as well, is that 4 CTs series Crown amps? Looks like a little over the top audio rig for DJing. Like to see the speakers that go with it.

I used a Nikon d700 with a 14-24mm Nikon f2.8 lense. The HDR software was Photomatrix Pro

Quick question Mike, what are the dimensions of your garage? It looks like a great space!

The mind boggles - unbelievable shop! Obviously an audio flavor, but what are some of the main things you do in your shop? And technically the photos are very cool, but honestly I think they lack some sharpness, considering the high zoot gear. Is it the lens? PS, are you British? You are spelling lens as "lense" on your Flickr header! (I can't help it, I'm a spelling nut....)

HDR works best with foliage and still outdoors IMHO.

Nope not British... just the way I spell lenses. I suppose a force of habit.

The lack of tack sharpness is probably due to shooting in such low light

WOW, tha's awesome. The shop and the photography and your taste in tools and audio. I'm an old Pioneer collector (70's) but have problems with it in my barn atmosphere. I keep it covered when not in use but the volume, balance etc controls get dust in them and have to be cleaned OFTEN. Is that not a problem with yours?

Again absolutely awesome.

Great looking place!!!! With the quality of the pics and the colors it sort of gives it sort of a Steampunk look to it. Beautiful none-the-less!!!
