New Proto Ratcheting Wrenches

I recently took advantage of the Zoro 30% off Spam special to pick up a few Proto items. I got some of the new ratcheting combination wrenches in 10-15mm. They are pretty nice. 72 tooth ratcheting spline boxed end mated to an offset antislip open end. there's definitely no knife edge on these wrenches, thick rounded beams.:thumbup: The faces of the wrench have cut out areas that provide for natural thumb placement that resemble an I beam from the edge. Did I mention that they're US Made?
Pictured below are craftsman, gearwrench, Blackhawk, SK, Snap on, and the Proto 13mm for comparison.
Off to work they go Monday to start their new lives.:beer:

Those are beauties, thanks for posting the pics. How much was the set, after the discount? I'm thinking they may be in my future...

I have a love hate relationship with my spline stuff. Rusted bolts seem to get stuck in them like no other. Better than rounding but I still feel they're inferior to 6pt.

I wonder if Proto and MAC will eventually adopt the Facom beams for their USA made regular combos as well.

MAC already has the Facom type beam on their "precision torque" combination wrenches that are made in Taiwan but, their beams aren't as thick as the new PROTO ratcheting wrenches. MAC's new Knuckle Saver 2 series are rebadged PROTO ASD 500s so, i wouldn't look for thicker beams any time soon but, that's just my guess.

I know this. Just interesting they fired up domestic production based off what was a European wrench design fairly quickly. They must feel its a good design to do that so I just wonder if that will translate over to the regular USA combos at some point as a replacement for the 500 series so Proto can offer them as well.

Thanks for sharing Fed, those look real nice! Although, have mixed feelings on the spline vs. a standard 12pt

Actually, my 8mm has it too. on the front side of the wrench is the size marking, then "Anti-Slip design" followed by the new PROTO I Beam logo, followed by the part number, and then the size again.

On the back side of the wrench is the size, then "Made in USA", PROTO I beam logo, then part number, then a 2 digit marking like 2M, 4L, or 1M.

I just for the complete metric set. I like these better than the snap ons so I picked up the protos. So now I have both sae and metric. There finish is awesome and every wrench including he pouch is marked made in the USA!

I've been thinking about getting some SAE sizes for working on my Jeep. This may just cause me to pull the trigger...
