Rob McKellar (Rob Cornwell here on GJ) put together a couple of group Cornwell tool buys.

I bought a TRF4 1/4" ratchet in the first group buy. The ratchet I received had badly peeling chrome. I contacted Rob, he contacted Cornwell, got back to me and said no problem he'd warranty it. On April 25th Rob said he was going to send me a return envelope and that's the last I heard from him.

I emailed him a month or so ago and received no response. I attempted to email him again today ([email protected]) and it bounced back as "User unknown in local recipient table."

Has anyone had any contact with Rob? Kinda looks like he may no longer be a Cornwell dealer. Guess I'll have to figure out how to warranty it directly with Cornwell.

At least you received the ratchet, I never did. I was kind and assumed he would uphold our agreement. By the time I had concluded that it was not going to ship it was too late to contest with PayPal. I'm not a complainer and have not posted anything publicly until now; It would be really nice if it showed up, but I am not holding out hope.

Search his name or e-mail through Google to look for other means of contacting him, such as social media.

I hate this kind of ****. If he's a bum member, we are going to ban his account, clearly.

Luckily for you, Cornwell will most likely warranty that peeling ratchet with no problems at all; they did for me a couple years back.

I got my 1/4 ratchet. Was thinking of contacting him to see about purchasing some things, but after reading this thread, I'll find another dealer. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a bum member.

That's what he posted as the second group buy was about to kick off. It never got off the ground because he became unresponsive.

It's not good when something like this happens. Lets hope that Rob will sort things out and make things right.

I did receive my 1/4" ratchet from the group buy.

I say on the peeling chrome one just go direct to Cornwell and get yourself a replacement.

For anyone who didn't receive theirs I would try and contact Rob and if not let a mod here know.

If anyone is having problems and payed with a credit card make a claim with you credit card company you have 90 days to file a claim.

Hopefully the rest payed with a postal money order. If you did file a mail fraud claim with the post office.

All should file a complaint here.

I haven't logged on here in a long time but looks like Rob did some kind of a group buy? What was it? Post who didn't get their stuff. I sent Rob a massage about this.

I didn't receive the trf4. I would be very grateful if it showed up on day. I don't hold grudges or get angry about things. Seemed like he was in a bad place in his life, holding out hope that one day it may show up.

I had a bit of a round and round with Rob. Missed out on the first group buy, so went in early on the next proposed group buy (3/8,flex, fine tooth ratchet). Sent him funds via PayPal. Never heard anything back from him.

It's been a while, and I'm going from memory, but here's what happened... I'm patient, so after a month+ goes by, I email him to ask what's going on. No response. Wait a week, or two, another email, no response. Wait a week, send an email saying that I'm going to have report to PayPal. I get a nice response apologizing, and saying that he'll make it right. Wait a week, or two, no response... Send another email that I'm reporting complaint to PayPal, and will be sending complaint to Cornwell company president. It looked like PayPal would not cover it because it had been too long, so I also filed with my credit card company. At this point it seems that Rob is probably just not in a position to make right on the refund...

Long story short, I got my money back. I believe Rob made right with PayPal, because I got two credits on my CC statement, one from PayPal and one from the CC company that later got reversed.

Rob was very nice when he did communicate, but for some reason was just not able to follow through with his commitments. He was very apologetic, and even after the refund, offered to get me the ratchet. I appreciated the offer, but was just too worn out to take another chance. Too bad, as I wanted to try that ratchet.

So, long story shorter, he seems like a good guy, but clearly was not able to follow through on his end, for whatever reason. Had my money for a couple of months before I got a refund. Not the end of the world, it was $72... If he had just refunded the money when he said he would the first time, I wouldn't be writing this. Buyer be cautious. ;)

So was it TRF4 ratchets he did a group buy on?

Also to keep things clean, keep post short. No point in slinging mud, not at this time anyway. You can start another thread for that. If the mods feel like it would work better, maybe they can start a new thread.

First off, who are you to tell us how to respond to the OP's post...! Secondly, I, in no way 'slung mud.' I told the truth about an experience that happened to me, and is directly related to the scope of the OP's concerns (not hearing back from Rob seems to be a pattern...).

And finally, I resisted saying anything at all, because Rob seems like a nice guy and all, but taking people's money, and not delivering products promised is serious stuff. I'm really glad I did post my reply, as the very next post, after mine, is from a guy that paid money and did not receive his merchandise. Who knows how many more problems are out there...? As a Cornwell dealer, this does not concern you...? :dunno: You may have a point about starting another thread, but I thought my response was in line with OP's thread.

If the mods think my post is out of line, I'd be happy to take it down. But again, some things need to be said. Have a great day. :3gears:

I posted to figure out if I can clean up a mess. That's who I am. I asked for post to be short to keep it to the point, other things about waiting to get your money back does not interest me. I did not call you out before.

I am calling you out now though, do you want me to try and fix what went wrong? Yes or no? I want an answer from you.

I can just as easily log out and forget this ever happened.

I will do nothing now until you respond to my question, me attempting to see if its possible to right a wrong for others now weighs one your answer.

Yes or no, your call

Yes or no, your call

A guy posts a group buy, and takes peoples money without delivering product, doesn't answer phone calls or emails is a crook. Doesn't matter if he is from Cornwell or Nigeria.

The guy who gets scammed by someone like this is gonna be pissed and should lay it out as clear as possible.

1) We should all be ticked, he came here and used "our" forum to scam some honest tool enthusiasts
2) You should be ticked, you work for the company. No matter how you cut it, mud is slinging around and landing.
3) You want to help, call Cornwell thru your insider connections and let them know a little mud is landing in various locations
4) Don't tell someone who was ripped off how they should feel about it or post about it.

I didn't see anything that was over the top in these posts.

Doesn't matter if this guy is getting divorced or not. He knows he's got money for product he didn't deliver. He knows he's not responding to queries. He knows he's not answering his phone.

Postscript:

Last I heard from Rob, he said he'd make it right - what size tee shirt would I like. :rolleyes2

Never did receive a return mailer from him. Got tired of seeing the ratchet sitting on my bench and finally sent it back to Cornwell directly. Got a new, nicely chromed one back in the mail in less than two weeks.

Not for nothing but a messy divorce can be pretty awful. He did seem well meaning and very enthusiastic about helping people get deals with very little profit to himself when he initially joined.
