Hello All,

After years of suffering with my cheap-o compressor, I finally decided to upgrade to something that will handle anything I throw at it now and in the future without breaking a sweat.

I thought some of you would find this helpful if you're looking for a new compressor and/or an air piping setup that easy to install yourself. This is another one of those situations where the information that I found in the archives of this forum was priceless and helped me immensely.

Here's the video that includes much more detail and a few giggles too :eyecrazy:

My old, wore out one:

My new one! The BendPak Tri-Max LS7580V-601 7.5 horsepower 3 cylinder extreme-duty air compressor. It is a beautiful machine.

RapidAir's Maxline air piping system. I really like how this setup turned out.

Hose reels, RapidAir's regulator/filter, jumper hoses and other fittings to complete the setup.

I learned about this great tip here on the forums and it worked great. I used hockey pucks in combination with BendPak's anti-vibration pads.

Hanging the reels on the mounting boards.

After hanging the reels, I connected the jumper hose from the compressor to the wall mounted regulator/filter combo and ran my first section of Maxline off of it.

All done!

After the 30 minute break-in time, I got right to work!

While I've only taken on a few small projects, I am completely impressed with the BendPak Tri-Max. It's quieter than my old, tiny compressor and fills up the tank in a hurry! I can't wait to tackle much bigger jobs for years to come!

Thanks for reading and watching,

-Tom

Great looking setup. Are you going to pipe the tank drain to the outside? I would highly suggest it.

Nice setup.

Thank you 930dreamer, Trey T and larry_g!

larry_g: Regarding the tank drain, that is a great suggestion and while I planned on extending the drain out from under the tank somehow, I hadn't thought about the option of running it outside, since it is right up against an outer wall. Thanks for that!

Who is manufacturer of compressor (ie that BendPak is re-labeling)??

Video is professionally made . . . . ADVERTISING .

Are you the avatar, or is avatar a BendPak employee . . . or . . paid advertising model??

How can you be Turbo Tom . . . while your nametag says Matt ??

Well, my name is indeed Tom and that is for better or for worse, my actual face.. Although I don't mind being referred to as a model, I'm sure my wife would get a good laugh out of that one! I bought these coveralls at a used work clothing store probably 15 years ago and just liked the "Matt" name tag on there and couldn't bring myself to rip it off. It's just for laughs.

Also, I've been wrenching and racing for a long time. I put up my first car related website in 1998 that included DIY/how-to write-ups, car build pictures, racing coverage, videos and that sort of thing and have been updating it consistently ever since. Just as a hobby, just to share my love of cars/wrenching with others and hopefully offer a good, free resource.

I started doing these "Tom's Turbo Garage" videos about a year and a half ago, only because I was bored doing the same old photo/text write-ups on my website and forums that I like to spend time on. That and I like videography, editing, writing and making my own music for them. It started as a creative outlet, and suprising to me- folks liked them and asked me to do more, so I try to do a couple a month on various topics.

Did you check out any of my other videos by any chance? I would imagine that if you like spending time working in the garage, modifying cars and/or racing that you'd find them at least genuine and (sometimes) interesting to watch. I mean, following your logic, I must be a Buick employee or spokesperson since I've recently made 6 videos focusing on my 1987 Buick Grand National.

I love my BendPak products. My lift is the first BendPak product that I'd ever used and is the best purchase that I've ever made. Whenever I deal with a good company that offers solid products and great support, I like to tell others, whether it be in person or in my videos. If you watch my videos or visit my website, you'll see that sort of thing consistently. Heck, if it wasn't for this forum, I would've made countless bad decisions on tool purchases and garage related topics. I'm thankful that folks said, use product A and try thing B, etc.

WOW!!!!!! You should watch some of his videos on you tube, I've followed him for quite some time. He is who he says he is and not an employee of bend-pak...

As usual, he just is providing excellent detailed information!

Hey Turbo Tom,

I have a similar pump and was wondering if you can provide fill up time from 0-175psi for me? Is that an 80 gal tank?

Thanks,
Matt (yes that is my real name)

Hi there Matt! :D

First off, yes it has an 80 gallon tank. Regarding your second question, I have been running like a madman as of late and likely won't be able to get that specific info for you anytime soon, so I'll share this thread, where OldCarGuy did some excellent tests with his BendPak compressor. Hope that helps!
