I think that I saw a thread a year or more back with a calculator that provided light spread etc. based on height of the light (ie: in the ceiling etc.) to the floor. I've searched but am probably not using the right search terms.

I'm putting six 4-inch LED's in the ceiling of our new garage that will be approximately 11-feet from the floor. I'd like to know how much coverage I'll have at the floor.

Thanks,

Ray

If you are using Lithonia fixtures, you can select the fixture from the web site, then select the specifications, then the photometrics and use Visual software to determine the number of lights needed. It isn't perfect but it works.

Example: http://lithonia.acuitybrands.com/IBEAM/IBEAMhome.aspx

Specification Data: http://www.lithonia.com/commercial/ibz.html?pt=Fluorescent and LED High Bay

Click Photometric Data from RH menu.

Click the little box with the red and blue squiggly lines in it for the desired fixture. In this case, I will chose the forth one down, a 4 bulb, 4 ft T8 lamp with wide distribution and some uplighting.

That takes you to THIS PAGE.

At the top right in the design tools, select interior and then when the next page loads, input your dimensions, desired lumens, etc.

Its only as good as the data you have to enter.
