These have come up for discussion a few times on here. Thought I would make a little info sheet, since info is pretty hard to obtain on them in my experience. Thanks to alinc100, Justanengineer, JMM, a few others that I can't recall right now (sorry, definitely not intentional), some intensive google searching on my part and the friendly folks at kennedy I present you with this.

I like tool boxes, that is no secret, especially the older obscure ones which I would classify this as such. Not sure if I see a real practical value to it, but neat nevertheless. Hope this will hep someone in the future looking for info.

BTW, if anyone would like to order one, new (NOS) they are being sold by a few companies. No experience or endorsements for them, just putting it out there.

I just found a Kennedy CT-4-316299 in real life. The previous owner added the handle. It looks cool as a stand alone tool box, but if you have much weight in the cantilevered tool box compartments it will tip over. I surmised this box was make to attach to the side of the rolling tool box, but I no longer had a rolling Kennedy tool box to confirm the 11.25” mounting hole spacing. The. I discovered this post and confirmed that assumption. They are very well built and heavy for their minimal size. I wonder how long they were in production?

I like the utilitarian design of the box.

I have a hip-roof Kennedy box, and a couple of Kennedy machinist's chests. I also have a Kennedy workbench I picked-up for nothing on a bulk-pick-up day here in south FL. This cantilever stack is an interesting storage box.

It was incorrectly assembled. I had to disassemble it, and rebuild it properly. I also added 2x4 reinforcement, a bottom shelf, and legs.
