To those who own Snap-On flare nut wrenches

If you have bought a set of Snap-On flare nut wrenches in the past few years, check them very closely. They may be broached off center.

Last spring I bought a set of metric set and when I got it I discovered that several wrenches were severely off centered. So they sent me another one but it has the same problem. I told them that they need to report it to the product manager to have it looked at. A few weeks later they contacted me and said that the issue has been resolved.

I waited for a couple months to allow production to circulate around and ordered the thrid set. When it came in they look better than the last two sets but I could see that the smaller wrenches are still off centered but not too severe. Neitherless I expected it to be perfect since it is a $220 Snap-On set.

So I called customer service again and they offered to send me another one. I refused and told them to get the product manager attention on this one. Apparently the manager has no concern since I have not heard back anything for over a month.

If any of you happen to have broached off center wrenches, I suggest that you contact Snap-On customer service and report it. Maybe if they get a few more complaint about similar product that it'd get their attention, and perhaps fix it for real!

The off center is for clearance issues in tight places. They are not defective, but are designed to make your job easier. I can tell that you must be new to wrenching............ expecting perfection in everything in your life! To each, some imperfections must fall....

Maybe you should try one more time; see if they have resolved the issue. I have seen these wrenches be "off center" for years; so, it may not be a defect but a "feature"? LOL! Then again, we talked about this before and some people's sets were centered, go figure! YMMV!

billymade, I just went and browsed through that old thread. Some of the things I said cracked me up; I even posted my blood pressure in that thread for some strange reason.

Of course it is true........ Would I joke about a thing as important as a Snap-On wrench having a possible defect? You are getting way too serious about your tools. I heard a rumor last week, that you have been known to open the lower drawer of your huge Snap-On tool box, and go to sleep in it. Could you please confirm if this is truth or fiction????

Not anymore. You didn't hear that he already filled his lower drawer with a bedroom full of tools.

i had same problem, talked to my snap-on guy, he took care of it, now i have perfect centered flare wrench.

Truth. Alot of people call me a perfectionist but I don't think my tolerance is as tight as Merkava_4

Neitherless, for over a couple hundred bucks there is no way I would accept the set in this condition. One of my co-worker has a SK set and they are all perfectly centered. Only problem is, I once had to borrow a wrench and it was spreading a bit. So that is one of reason why I want to get the Snap-On set but only if they could get the damn broaching issue fixed!

Maybe you should go to a local Snapon dealer and see if he has a set that is centered; see if he will swap them out or try to have them ship another set.

I have sets in metric and SAE that are 30 years old and they are perfectly centered. Love those wrenches --

I hired a small six man team of engineers at Snap-on to engineer me a casket painted in traditional Snap-on red complete with full width ball bearing drawers.
