Since I'm broke I only have my old 2 ton jack from my car I sold for now. I have a 1997 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 4 door LS. Since I'm only trying to lift one corner it should be fine right? The truck weighs about 2.5 tons.

I have a pair of 3 ton jack stands that I will use after I lift it.

I didn't try the jack yet I wanted to ask first.

thanks

2 ton is the safe working load limit the jack is rated for. You shouldn't have any problem with the weight, but usually a 4 wheel drive vehicle is rather high off the ground, so a small jack usually isn't very stable at the fully extended hight.

You will probably have to lift a corner at a time. Then place a jack stand under there & move to the next corner.

I only need it to lift one corner I'm not trying to take the whole truck off the ground. Want to know for changing a tire and I will be doing front end suspension work.

Just make sure to place the jack in the same direction the vehicle may want to go. Those small jacks are kind of narrow to be lifting a high vehicle.

You should be fine with the vehicle on flat ground, worst case is it falls off the jack and land back on the tire. Just MAKE SURE TO SET THE PARKING BRAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May sound funny But will say this _ I have the 4 ton rapid lift from HF. fits under and lifts with ease my 89 civic and also lifts with ease my 95 ram 2500 4x4 ( which is what I bought it for ) well worth the money IMO.

Quick google search. Looks like your vehicle weights ~5500lbs (rounded up just for safety). Assuming a 60/40 weight distribition which is typical for a front engine vehilce like that. You are looking at liting a max of ~(0.60*5500lbs)--> 3300lbs --> ~1.65 tons which is ~.35 tons or 700lbs less than the working cap of your jack. So theoretically you should be just fine. Obviously make sure you use jack stands and don't let the jack hold for a long period of time.

Work safe.
