Picked this box up yesterday and plan on filling it today, I was hoping someone here might tell me what Wich sockets , ratchets , speed wrench ect. belong in it. It seems to have a weird configuration (minimal socket space)
Was hoping to get a picture of one full? I was planning on putting =v= in it.
Thanks in advance!

Go to Alloy Artifacts site and date the logo on the box.
Then find an old catalog online in that range of years and look at the different kits that could have come in that box. There are usually 3 or more options possible. The catalogs usually state the dimentions of the boxes too so that helps tie it down to one or two kits each year.

Or, go totally fantasy and create the kit of more or less vintage pieces that fit your needs best, then use it as a working tool kit.

I've done all of the above, some of the weirdest kits are the worker sets in my home shop. The true to vintage are the hardest to build but the most satisfying to look at later.

Thanks for the advice, I am slowly getting all my tools this vintage so when I found the box I was pretty happy about it.

you are a good man , everything appears to fit, other than the lid don't close on the speeder. I am going to have to find another speeder without the big hand crank on the end.

Actually I think your box is the predecessor to the one I link. Thinking yours is from the mid 40's. The catalogs I have only go back to 49, which is the one I pulled that image from. Based on the square edges of your box I think it is earlier, but the same set. They probably omit the long socket tray in order to fit the speeder handle.

BTW, if anyone has PDF's of the mid 1940's craftsman hand tools, I would like to talk to you. ;)

Yep, I'm real familiar with that site. Unfortunately they don't have any hand tool catalogs prior to 1949, just power tools.

That looks real close to the box my C'Man BE's came in.
My box is 17.5" x 5.25"

Beings I wasn't around when this was made I can't prove the BE's belong in this box but they sure fit nice

Sockets are 3/8"-3/4" 12pt plus 3 8pt in 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" sizes,
Ratchet,
Breaker Bar,
3", 6", and 11" extensions,
and the bar that goes thru the breaker bar to make it a "T" handle

Hope this is of some help.

After looking at yours they appear identical except mine has the bracket that holds the speeder in place. And mine has the Decal inside the cover. :dunno:

Ihredo4, It looks very similar. it does help a lot thank you. I am pretty confident yours predates mine. I am going to have to get a =v= speeder without the big knob on the end. and mine has the small spot for the wobble extension in it.
It is tempting to fill it with be stuff though....
