Some time ago I picked up this thing (no idea what it was for) at one of the hospitals that I do work at, it was tagged as junk, so I asked if I could have it, kinda cool looking.
It's been sitting around behind the shop until I spotted it on Friday afternoon, I pulled it into the shop and started pulling it apart.
Suddenly it just clicked! the Light bulb lit up and off to the races I went.
First I finished pulling it apart, getting rid of extra pieces and weight.
Then I started pulling parts out of drawers and bins.
First up I needed a shelf so I took the side from an old filing cabinet and used the break to bend it up.
Then I started on the electrics, 2 duplex outlets, a few switches and an old battery charger, at first I was just going to use the charger to power a 12 volt outlet but then I decided that since I had the parts handy I would also have it capable of charging batteries.
What I ended up with should be very functional.
What is it you ask?
Its a thing a ma jig.
No really what my idea was a rolling light and tool tray, something that I can roll up to the side of a vehicle and extend under the hood, it will hold the light a place to set tools and parts. The arm that holds the tray and light is adjustable up and down to fit different hight engine compartments.
Having power and a bat charger handy right there will come in handy as well. and with the 12 volt outlet I can keep my phone charged or plug in something else like my 12 volt heater to keep my hands warm.
hmm missing some pics will have to add them later.
