Local antique store was selling one (asking a bit much for me); something I haven't seen and wasn't having much luck on digging through the uncatalogued on rose's.

Woa, that looks like something you would use in a dip tank. :lol_hitti I've personally never seen one before, but that doesn't mean much. I'm thinking maybe made for wet applications so the try wouldn't hold water? :dunno: That is just a WAG though.

What were they asking?

My father has one of those and a few without perforation. He said that he didn't remember when or how he got it.

I always kind of assumed that this was from the lawn & garden side of Craftsman. Would make sense to use a perforated one for gardening with all the dirt and water you have to deal with.

...yeah, just another WAG.

I think $60 ish; it's about 19" long by 9 wide"; found 2 others on-line one for $26, another with tools for $100;

That $26 looks like it would run about $40 with shipping.

If some one wants to jump on either, be my guest. I've been trying to curtail my spending as of late. If the local one I saw was $20 or $30, I probably would have scooped it up.

My dad had one when I was a kid. I would guess early 80's. Haven't seen or thought about one since. With the feet, I would guess it had not been intended to sit in a tool box. The holes are kind of small for the garden, but for a contractor / carpenter, it would certainly help eliminate the finer dust. My dad had carpentry tools in his.

I think it would be great in environments with higher humidity, reducing the likelihood of moist dust settling in around your bare tools.
