I have the same welder. You got a good deal. The first thing I did was take off the NASCAR stickers and it seemed to work better. :D

Thanks for confirmation of a good buy guys, I see them for sale $700 ish. Mom was pretty pizzed when she called to see where we where when we didn't get home from school on time.

Oh well,.....by that time we had bought it and were heading back,....whats the saying, "It's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask permission?!"

Prime example here, kids did homework in the car and got a fast food dinner as a treat!! :rocker:

I got a screaming deal on a NIB Lincoln from craigslist too.

Asked the seller where he got it and he fed me some story about his mom bought them for him and his brother. He got a 140, and his brother got the 180 but it had already sold.

Later I noticed more ads for the same, with the same phone number. At one point he switched from the HD (home depot) models to the Lowe's ProMig. I guess his source changed jobs. I just checked - no ad at the current time, haven't checked for 6 months or more though.

:wtf: WOW, great deal. What is the background story? Did the PO maybe win it or something? I've seen alot of used once or twice machines up for sale after people buy a machine and then realize welding takes time and effort to be proficient at, but new in box. :dunno: Enjoy that machine.

 Didn't you read the manual? For best results with the nascar sticker your welding jacket needs to be flannel, mullet sticking out of the back of your welding helmet and holding a beer in the other hand. :lol_hitti

I'm joking nascar fans.

If you take off the flannel jacket and put on a denim jacket you'd be all set to go out in your Canadian tuxedo. :canada2:

Really do need to take that sticker off, the first time I took it outta the box, it threw itself up against the wall three times before I could get it back in.

From outta state, bought it, then ran into $$ trouble, as in needing some soon, NOW.

I talked to him on the phone and set up a buy meeting that night, hence the kids coming with me.

They made that welder for 30 yrs so far. Its set up perfect for 030 and C25. The 5 speed is ideal. You need 3 settings, thin, medium and thick. B 2.5, C 3.5 and D 5.5

... and you've probably figured out by now that it only welds in a counter clockwise direction.

Nice machine! I got the HD version of that one brand new for 100 bucks, actually HD had 2 MIGs sitting on a skid with no torches or boxes. I offered them 200 for the pair and they took it. One was a 120V unit and the other was a 240V unit. I slapped a torch on each one and I sold the 120V machine for 350 on ebay, I sold my old Century to a relative for 50 bucks so between the 2 machines and 2 torches, I was out 400 but after I sold the Lincoln and the Century , my net cost for the 240V machine was 0.

They will probably remember this road trip for years to come. The memories are priceless.

Smallest thing do seem to sometimes make the best longest lasting memories,...........

The roadtrip to remember was the 15 hr treck each way that my son and I made to pick up the 67 Rustang shell that I'm working on now.

If you get the chance check out my build thread below, now that was a fun trip.
