I have a Snap-On drop light, the cord is becoming a little old, it is housed in a 30 foot retractable reel. I never cared for the cord that came with it since it has grooves, prefer the smooth cord that is easy to wipe off. Another light I own is made by National Electric mfg, 50 ft reel and smooth cord, this is my favorite reel and cord. SJTOW cord - oil and water resistant

Funny how I like the fluorescent light housing on the snap-on, the link to Central tools looks like my light except mine says Snap-on, maybe rebranded. http://www.centraltools.com/lights_15w.html

I am considering rewiring the older one, thinking about upgrading the cord to the SJTOW type. Why did the factory use this type of cord, any problems using another cord? Good source for the replacement cord?
Thanks
