For over a month, Ollie's Bargain Outlet has been selling Canadian made Richard pry bars at great prices. I found at one store 8" to 24" long, straight and curved; black oxide and chrome moly pry bars that are priced between $4.99 and $9.99. Also, a set of 3 (8", 12", 18") black oxide, curved pry bars is priced at $12.99. Richard makes quality pry bars per this discussion thread a month ago on Garage Gazette here. Here are several close up pictures I took of an 8" pry bar:

Haven't seen this in the Pottstown, Pa store. Hit or miss with Ollies, have got some great deals in the past though!

LORDDIESEL,

Which style, the straight or curved, do you find most useful? Which lengths of that style do you find most handy?

Thanks.

I picked up a set. Definitely a deal at the price. They do not seems as nice/heavy as the craftsman pros/Mayhews, but the price is right and I will cheerfully use them. Very happy with deal, thanks for the heads up.

I wish I had a way to get these in Kansas. I don't own any Canadian made tools.

Hey OP, what store? I have one walking distance from my house.

<--------

Jeffksf,

I shopped at the Ollie's on Broadway Ave in Oakwood Village. There are no more 3 piece sets left. However, there are lots of singles left of the 8" thru 24" straight and curved; black oxide and chrome moly pry bars.

I got a kick of the few guys that stopped at the pry bar station while I was loading up my shopping cart. These guys picked up a pry bar, looked at it for 1 second, threw it back onto the table, and walked away. I was thinking "more for me!"

Great post, as my Ollies has quite a few that I've considered. No one seems to be buying them. All are the black yellow. The orange/chrome are great looking..wish we had them. I'll likely pick up some of what they have since you all say they are good quality.

The 3 piece was on last month for 12 bucks. The second set you see in my picture, i bought for my buddy. He's a full time tech and has been using the hell out of them. I keep checking in with him about them. He LOVES them and even bought another set for his house.

Does Ollie's normally sell tools? I've seen their ad, but never actually been to the store. The ad reminded me of a Big Lots type deal, aka a bunch of junk. I have one pretty close, maybe on the way home I'll stop in.

None at Parma store :(

Jeffksf,

I just left the Oakwood Village Ollie's store. I noticed that 2 chrome moly, 3 piece sets and 1 black oxide, 3 piece set were hiding in 2 bottom boxes on the top shelf of the 3 shelf display. Plus, there are still many left of the single pry bars in various lengths. It is definately worth the drive!

Maybe I'll try and get there tomorrow, are they in their tool isle in the back of the store?

One thing I did notice that might interest others was a "Gearhead" brand of socket organizers the plastic type with the fingers that stick up and are labeled at the top. I saw mostly SAE but some Metric. $5.00 a tray.

Jeffksf,

The 3 tier shelf with the pry bars is in front of the tool aisle in the back of the store. Go to the registers and you'll see the DVD rack. Walk down that aisle and you can't miss it. Have fun tomorrow! I sure did the last few days!

There was a whole end cap full at the Lynchburg, VA store. I grabbed the 3 piece chome moly and one 24". They work great but no holes in the handle for hanging. Easy fix.

While you're there check for the orange OM brand masking tape. Sells for $4 at Walmart with the RustOleam sticker. Ollies had three widths for 1.29,1.69 I think.

Also had some nice Jorgenson clamps and Pony 3/4 inch pipe clamps a few months back. They were USA made and dirt cheap. I recall 6 bucks for the pipe clamps.

Its a hit or miss place which it why I keep going back to root around.

wonder if the st clairsville store has any?
Might have to take a ride there tomorrow.
Need to go to sears any how to pick up my bench dogs.
Plus I got about a $9.00 roll of carpet tape from Ollies that is no good, I want to try to return, but I cant find the receipt.
Maybe they will give me store credit.
About a month ago, not a single Jorgenson clamp.
Thats when I brought the bad carpet tape.
He said, some just brought it back, he'd go get it for me,
Should have been a red flag I missed.

Lots of stuff at the one here. Got the last three piece set, the next size larger, and two straight ones. Went all with the 'carbon steel', but there were the silver chrome moly ones there as well. Any reason to pick one over the other?

ShadowRuleZ,

Most of the pry bars I bought had shanks made from carbon steel. However, on the packaging of the 8" curved, chrome moly bar, I read that is more resitant to wear. There is no reference to the benefits of chrome moly on the A. Richard's website. My last straight and curved bar purchases were all chrome moly.

I just left the North Olmstead Ollie's store. It has in stock 10 black oxide, 3 piece sets and 1 chrome moly, 3 piece set. There are plenty of single black oxide and chrome moly pry bars avaiiable as well.

Is there a 8in curved pry bar chrome moly pry bar?

Do they have a 8in straight chrome moly pry bar?

And anyone willing to ship one my way? It looks like it might fit in a small flat rate box from USPS. Might be cheaper to ship in an envelope (to 55447). Not sure. I don't care about the packaging, just the pry bar. I know for sure it will fit a flat rate padded envelope (might have to get the envelope shipped to your house though...).

Let me know if anyone wants to help me out!

Yes, they have 8" curved chrome-moly (5/16" bar) & a regular black steel 8" straight (5/16" bar)....They are $4.99/each.

I can check the next time I swing in, if they still have some I can pick you up one of each & mail them out.

Here is what I got there tonight.....my store has a LOT of them in stock (150+ bars)...

1/2" Bar - 24" straight, 24" curved, 18" straight, 18" curved
7/16" Bar - 18", 16", 12" straight
5/16" Bar - 8" straight, 8" curved

Also, I picked up 6 different sizes of Husky Pro screwdrivers (lifetime warranty @ Home Depot) for $2.99/each

Stopped by yesterday, never been before, the tool isle was a bit overwhelming.
The "good stuff"
-A bunch of richard prybars, every shape, size, finish, but no 3 piece set, wide range of prices
-Husky USA screwdrivers, no philips ~$2.99 ave each
-Bunch of Jorgensen 24" bar clamps $10.99

I dug through a box of randomness and picked out 3 crescent yellow handle USA made drivers for 0.89 each. I guess I'll have to pop in every once in a while.

Thanks for the heads up on Ollie's dede

Probably the best pry bars I've ever used. Pity the re limited in size

Do you think they are better than the Craftsman standard, Craftsman Pro's?

Does anyone think they could pick up a 3pc set and ship it to 66071 for $20? Forgive me if this is a institute as I never ship things at all. I'm not sure how to even find out the cost of shipping.
