Picked up one of these at Costco a couple of weeks ago for $32.99. Nothing Snap-on about it except the licensed use of the name, and COO China, of course. They seemed to be selling out fast, so as always with Costco, if you think you want it, grab it now.

I've used it several times already, and it's really an OK product so far. The light pattern is uniform, with no hot or cold spots. It's usefully bright for work within 6-8 feet of the light, and the lamp doesn't get hot at all as it runs.

I also purchased 2 of these (one for me, one for my father). Very bright, doesnt get hot as the blazes like the old style bulb units. Time shall see how long it lasts.

They're a pass in my book. I bought 2 of them and have been running them on the job site 24/7 for the past 30 days. I can sleep now knowing they won't burn the place down.

Purchased some for the kids for Christmas! Love them, went back and purchased one for myself! Wanted another, but they were all gone!

I might be the only one who does not like them. Tried them out but I really hated the color. It's white but leans toward the blue side. For general use they're okay, but if you're dealing with colored wires, I would be more cautious.

If you have the Milwaukee M18 lineup, check out their floodlight. It cost a lot more, but the color it produces is the best I've seen.

That's pretty nice but I've noticed I hate working with led light vs. just a floor lamp. I prefer the craptacular stuff.

I have no reason to switch especially with that illumination. I have a home depot floor lamp that has incredible distance (like 30 feet; I can do shadow puppets on my neighbors house from my backyard:bounce:)...but the led stuff probably won't blind you.

I bought one a couple months ago, but I paid $40. I'll buy a 2nd if they start clearing them out for $25 or less. Nice and bright, cord is a decent length.

Picked up two. Pretty nice for the price, and I no longer have to worry about melting stuff. I wish there was a low setting though, when working inside the cab of my truck, all 1600 lumens is a little overwhelming.

if you are still in need of this Snap On work light, Costco has a newer version item 922261, in my area they are running a promotion $4 off, 2000 lumen. for $29.99.

thats the older/less powerful model.. costco has been selling the 2000 lumen model for months now for the same price. i have 2 of the 1600, and one of the 2000.. they also make a 3600 lumen model i think, but not sold in costco.

If they are anything remotely like the Made in China / Snap On retractable work light from Costco from a few years ago, then I wouldn't bother.

Utter junk.

i own 3.. they are better than any other work light ive ever owned. i use two of the 1600 models to set telephone poles at night. you will NOT find anything better, or even close to these, for that price, or even double.

I've been using one daily for over a month now. No complaints from me. I need to pick up another.

It's not the cool blueish color temp that is bothering you when dealing with colored wire, it's the low CRI (color rendering index), the lower the number the worse the color spectrum is. It's been a problem with LED for a while, they have improved greatly recently but anything above 90 CRI (recommended) is still super pricey.

Only the most legitimate bulb manufacturers will be brave enough to list CRI spec's on a LED fixture. Sadly it's something you would rarely, if ever see listed on a COO China product.

They have made great strides with CRI in LED in the past year, I would not be surprised if the 1600 version is in the low 60 CRI's and the 2000 version is in the 70 CRI's.

Engineers try to find a reason, but really, people just have a color preference.

2700K looks like piss to me after I eliminated all the soft white in my house, 6000K looks like nightclub to me. I like my 4000K CFLs the best, even though the CRI is <80.

Back on topic though, I've been using these less and less since I got my Metabo cordless lights. #1, they're cordless and I don't trip over the cord, #2, they're warmer than the Snap-On lights which I prefer.

CRI on the Metabo is only listed as >70, but apparently Porsche uses them for final paint inspection in Stuttgart...soo I guess it's "good enough". ;)

Still use the Snap-On light for backup though when I leave all my batteries drained.

Just an FYI these were at my local Costco.... picked up one, and liked it so much, I got another. I will probably get a 3rd.

Does anyone know what type of pole to use so that one can mount them up higher?

The ones I got were 2000 lumens and pure white light. Made my Dewalt halogen work light look like piss... I threw the Dewalt one out yesterday. The amount of heat it produced and piss yellow light are NO MORE!

I just remodeled a lawyers office suite. Complete gut and rebuild. Anyways electric was there putting the lights in above. I wasn't paying much attention. I knocked the light cover off flipping up a wall and was amazed. They have two 4ft strips of those led lights. Bright as hell, not hot, no glass to break, and last a long time from what I was told. I would jump on anything with those led lights. Might even start installing in my house.

Rice: I saw the SO light at Costco. Was thinking of pulling the trigger a few weeks ago. But what's this Metabo cordless light? Do you have a model no? What's the COO? I'm interested

If price is a zero factor and you want the ultimate cordless 2000 lumen light with Very high CRI (96) and (6) hour battery life, then this one is it but it's a tad pricey but your garage will look really good and there's no price high enough for that.

It would be cool if the new version Snap On had a high CRI and compared to this one above. There was talk on some other forum that the CRI on the new Snap On is approx. 90 CRI.

macgee- That light you posted - Scangrip, wow! That looks perfect. They really thought about the design: lightweight, drop proof, water proof, easy to mount.

High price tag but I bet that light last forever.

Those are the first ones I clicked on, perhaps more research would yield some better options.

I just hate the usual tripod light stands, always seems to be the achilles of them all.
