After looking at my sad garage for five years last month I decided to tear into it and start a remodel.

Paint

After getting all the clutter out the first task at had was to paint the paneling. I put on 2 coats of Kilz tinted my paint color, then painted 3 coats of exterior semi-gloss in a Valspar Vessel Grey.

Next, I put up a track rail system. After much research I decided to go with the Kobalt Krail from Lowes. So far I am pleased with the performance of it.

Then, I built a pegboard panel for over my tool box. I used 2 2'x4' sections. I read some mixed reviews on this but decided to paint it black. I used Valspar aerosol primer, Krylon gloss black aerosol, and Krylon clear coat aerosol. I was pleased with the way the paint turned out. The rattle can method did a good job of not clogging up the holes. I then installed a couple power strips on the bottom of the pegboard frame.

Now I'm researching floor covering so I will know what to go with when the weather breaks. And also waiting on my electrician friend to get some time to help me put in some florescent lights overhead.

The storage and workbench look great! I bet you really enjoy pulling your bike in and working on projects out there with the new colors. Great look!

jealous of your high ceilings. Why didnt you put the firdge and toolbox on the front wall. Looks like it would almost be perfect there. Throw some upper cabinets there and bingo bango.

Any chance you painted the ceiling white? It may be the photos but it appears kinda dark in there. But I agree it looks fanatically better. Huge congrats.

A real good start and shows you don't need to spend all that much to improve a garage.
I like the idea of the painted wall paneling. It came out well. The OSB will soak up a lot of paint, but using a good latex primer helps a lot. Your bench and tool board works and looks good. I like the wall tracks for hanging items as that keeps a lot of clutter off the floor and you can find what you need. The work you did has shown a huge improvement already and I know your going to be well pleased with your new garage!!
Thanks for posting and keep us updated!!

Cheers

Thanks for all of the support guys.

Polexican23 I wish i had room for it to work out like that but it's not wide enough for the tool box alone, but i do have plans to aquire some cabinets. hopefully soon i can get some up and i will post some pictures.

Dan in Pasadena I painted the ceiling the same color as the walls. I do have some florecent lights to put up just waiting on my electirican friend to get some time to help me wire them up so it wont look like a dungeon anymore

Hspencer Yea, I spend a weekend and only about $600 on the remodel so far and am really pleased with the progress. I have painted some paneling before and know the secret a couple good coats of Kilz lol.

Great transformation! I had similar 'wood' paneling in my garage and it was such a downer, even if your didn't notice it you noticed it. Excellent use of space with the pegboard and rails.

Tonight I finally talked my electrician buddy in to helping me wire up some lights. We put in 3 48" 2 bulb fixtures and it made a world of difference. Here are a few phone pictures. Also here is a picture of an old metal cabinet I salvaged out of a house a friend bought to redo. I stripped off several layers of latex paint and sprayed it black.
