Been watching to see if the Cripe Distributing Web site ever comes back. Tonight the following appeared at http://www.cripedistributing.com:

We will be launching our new site on Wednesday January 22, 2013

I hope they really meant 2014 not 2013.

For those who don't know... Cripe still has the last of the old Kobalt (made by Williams...e.g. Snap on) NOS.... Get it while you can... Hold a Snap on socket next to a Kobalt of pre 2003 vintage and the only difference is the Stamps on the socket...

Highly recommend to all good USA tool lovers to get some while they last, trust me... They won't last...

I hope they keep up with updates and the site is a winner going forward. It was a site I wanted to go through and see everything but it didn't lend itself to nonstop searches.

I don't think they're the "same". The snap on dudebros say they ain't after (of course) insulting your mom.:bounce:

Not that they're not good sockets but because people don't want to deal with the warranty/stigma of "kobalt". Even the modern stuff kobalt sells is good but probably because most of it is rebranded taiwan stuff.

I use their "****" everyday (and 100% of it is not u.s.) , it's excellent stuff not just consumer grade. But people on here won't use it even if it's u.s. made, even if it was a rebranded snap-on (which it ain't) because it's a retail brand.

I'll wait and see. Their last website redesign didn't go so well for them and that wasn't that long ago. Their ebay store works well though...

I didnt even know they had a website. I've only bought through them on eBay. Im excited though - hoping the new site is modern and easy to navigate. Cripe's is one of my favorite vendors and go to's when I need a specific tool for a good price.

I can't wait for Cripe to be back up. Terrible for my wallet, love filling in any gaps in sets and misc tools with Armstrong, KD USA, Kobalt USA, Gearwrench, Allen USA. Hoping it all gets worked out soon!

Years ago they had a very good web-site, very easy to use and then they went and changed everything, kind of like killing the goose that lays golden eggs.

They aren't going anywhere. They're very active with their ebay listings, just been a PITA with the website down.

I've definitely dumped enough of my own wallet as well to make sure they stay in business.:lol_hitti

Does a rep. of Cripe ever post here?

I get the feeling even if you called and asked them what the holdup is, they're still at the mercy of whoever is building the website, and are probably just as frustrated as the rest of us are with the delays.

Someone from Cripe made a few posts last year and has not been back.

When I talked by phone with them last year they were very apologetic and suggested using their Ebay site. I prefer using a traditional web site to Ebay, although the old Cripe web site was pretty lame. It does suprise me that a business that is basically an internet reseller would not put a higher priority on ensuring the web site was available. One thing good is I am saving some $$. :bounce:

The following is their answer as to when their site will be up:

We have been working on getting our data base back so we can get this up and running again. We apologize for the frustration and really hope to get it up and running soon.

Thanks,
BreAnn

Thanks for sticking with us thru this mess.
Nobody is more frustrated then we are.
Our first web developer got a promotion and didn't have time to do the site anymore.
Our new developer was supposed to live in Idaho so we could have a face to face relationship but has never returned from the Netherlands. We have issues from the time he took over. He assured us he could handle the quantity of items and the volume we needed to run thru. But so far, we have been down or had issues more then we have had a productive site.

Please feel free to always call us with an order in the mean time. We will give you a 10% discount. 208.424.3370

Thanks again for your continued support.

As I said before, I figured you folks were probably more frustrated with waiting on the website than any of us have been. It's always a pain to deal with web designers that don't deliver what was promised.

Looking forward to seeing the site back online, and y'all have my absolute support no matter how long it takes.

Just keep the folks here updated if you get a minute. I'm sure we'd all rather hear from the horse's mouth that we have another week/month to wait then be chewing our fingernails and hearing speculation of what's going on at the ol' Cripe.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the situation. It sounds like a difficult situation to deal with while you are trying to run your business. Thanks too for offering the discount.

Kinda hard to place an order when you don't know what is for sale. :headscrat I know, I know, I can look on Ebay. No thanks, I'll pass on Ebay. Then when (if?) the web site is back up the 10% offer will be withdrawn.

If it's that hard, don't bother. I have ordered through eBay multiple times without the 10% and have been more than happy....and it was easy.

Thats exactly what I am doing. I think thats what "thanks, I'll pass on Ebay" means.

Only a small portion of Cripe's merchandise is available on Ebay. It is much easier to search for items on a more traditional web site.

Thanks for your feedback!
