I have been lurking around here for a while and getting ideas. I finally have a garage to call my own since my wife and I recently purchased a home with a detached 30x30 garage. Previously, I rented space to work on my cars and to do some side jobs to pay for it. I have moved out of the rented space and will start fixing up this garage once the house is ready to move in to.

It is mostly a blank slate as the previous owner used it to park his cars and store a couple garden tools. I will start with flooring and building some workbenches along with moving my toolboxes and compressor in. I will be posting progress as well as questions as I get moving to make the space mine.

There is also secondary storage in the form of a 12x16 storage unit that is also wired and insulated.

Here are a couple pictures:

Cool looks like a great space to start with. Remember to keep all lawn and garden tools in the shed where they belong. keeps us posted with lots of pictures. Good luck.

The shed is actually fully insulated and was used as an office by the previous owner haha

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. We are still doing work remodeling the bathrooms and kitchen inside the house so the garage is not getting a lot of love yet. Planning to replace the door seal this weekend as it's leaking water in.

I am planning to use the Epoxy-Coat kits in Gray on the Floor. I am looking at the kits on the Lowes site as I have a 10% off coupon to use there but both the 384 fl-oz and 768 fl-oz kits list the same coverage.

Am I missing something?

Thanks guys. The house remodeling is finally coming to a close for the big stuff. Starting to clear out all of the remodeling trash and such from the garage over the next few weeks. Once cleaned, will start with replacing the garage door seal and then grinding the floor. The one good thing I can say came from the remodeling is that my tool collection has expanded hehe. I uploaded a couple of images of some of the work that was done

So after the wife packs her part of it full of holiday ****, and other whatnots...your area will be what, 15x15?

Luckily, the garage is completely mine. She gets a 12x16 shed for all her gardening stuff and anything else she may like along with me parking the lawnmower there. The cars will also only be parked inside the garage as long as they don't get in the way of any of the projects

Finally started clearing out all of the remodeling junk from the garage last night. Spent about 4 hours cleaning and organizing tools and materials and adding to the trash stack. Will be making some runs to return some stuff to my dad's house. I will be putting epoxy down on the floor and repainting the walls but am not sure on what to do with the cinder block footing. I attached a photo. Any ideas?

Thanks for the update and great work all round.
You have quite a lot of options when it comes to the footing.
1. cover it with a base board.
2. Paint it the wall colour.
3. Leave it as it is, lightly acid wash, rinse, dry and coat it with a clear coat.
Personally this would be what I would do as it will give a nice accent to your walls.

Regards

I think I may follow your advice and leave it as is but just clean it up

Thanks, got a good bit of cleaning done over the past few days. Now I just need to take a couple truckloads of trash to the dump and I hope to get the walls painted this weekend

Got some goodies today. Buddy of mine called me over and said he had some extra light fixtures and workbench legs so I went over and got 6 4-bulb T8 fixtures

I started measuring everything last night and noticed a gap at the top of the wall drywall. There is about 1.5 inches gap from the top of the drywall to the ceiling. Whats the best way to work with this to be able to drywall the ceiling. A 2x4 fits perfectly in the gap, should I run 2x4's perpendicularly across the whole ceiling?

VERY nice space! There are probably a million ways to do that ceiling right, hopefully someone chimes in with a good idea.

Anyhow, your swap thread is a CLIFFHANGER!! Is it done??

I am going to drywall the ceiling as is and then fill in the gap with strips of drywall. I will cut into the existing drywall so the strips are not tiny.

Made some more progress with the light enclosures today. 3 more boxes to build

Still need to pull some more old wire out and then I can start running new wire and start ceiling drywall
