I saw this at my local Lowe's, and I just don't see the point...the fridge is too small, and it cuts into tool space. I'd rather have separate tool storage, fridge and radio, but I don't even listen to music when I work, so I could do without the sounds and be content. The stainless finish looks like a fingerprint collector too.

that toolbox was designed to attract the wives to buy it for their husband that thinks he is 'good with tools'

I just saw my first "working" stainless box today, in a tyre place.
It looked a horrible mess with finger marks all over it. The blue box a few feet away, on the other hand, looked used, but nothing like as marked.
Sorry, no badges to identify the make on either.

I don't mind the stereo as much, as one mechanic that worked at the shop had a Mac box that had one in it.

The Fridge on the other hand, too small, waste of space, what happens if it leaks or the compressor goes out in it?

Stainless boxes are a mater of finish choice. Not my preference, but if I found one for $50, I don't think I would pass it up.

Is that why SO makes purple toolboxes? "Oh honey I just had to have it, it matches the decor you picked out perfectly."

no
it for the guys that have a plum crazy purple hemi challanger in their garage and want a toolbox to match.
if you have a purple SO toolbox and do not have the matching hemi car to with it then its still on the aquisition list

One of my customers bought that box a few months ago. He's already had to replace 1 set of slides, no big deal because it's under warranty & that's why things have a warranty, because anything can break. While it is a neat idea, you loose valueable tool storage space. It's also against OSHA rules to store food/drinks in a work shop. For home use----the beer storage would make bench racing more fun.

No offense intended but this is not true, at least as pertains to fed OSHA. Now if you are speaking of the rules in what is known as a state plan state this may be true I would not know about that. But in fed OSHA controlled states this is not true.

The following states have approved State Plans:
Alaska
Arizona
California
Connecticut
Hawaii
Indiana
Iowa
Kentucky
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Nevada
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
Oregon
Puerto Rico
South Carolina
Tennessee
Utah
Vermont
Virgin Islands
Virginia
Washington
Wyoming

I posted based on my experience.

I looked at one of those the other night when I was at Lowes. I actually like it. It would do pretty well in a clean, residential type garage.

I was over at Lowes the other night when I saw this box and a smaller setup. The one with the mini fridge was listed for $1500 if I remember right...the smaller setup was about $850.

I like it, though I'm generally not a fan of all stainless boxes. It seemed to me to be pretty well made and all...but not sure how that would work if the fridge went bad. Could you replace it easily or not?

None of my current boxes have cooling capability! :lol_hitti

When I was in the shop, our lady who did "preinspections" to help us avoid OSHA fines also made the fridges disappear and about had a cow if she ever saw drinks on/in toolboxes. I made the mistake of walking through the shop munching on a piece of pizza, you would have thought I was an axe murderer, the way she reacted.

We had a parts dept in the middle of the shop, walled off, with a dropped ceiling and separate HVAC, and she made the parts guru get rid of his microwave and bar fridge...he just camouflaged them, but kept them where she wouldn't see them.

Wow, i didn't expect this many responses. I won't be buying one, as I got a black 41" Kobalt box last year. I have enough things to clean, I don't need the front face of my toolbox to be one of them. But I posted it because:
a.) People around here seem to be real big on Costco stainless toolboxes, and
b.) I thought it was funny to see them all integrated.

That can't be federal osha. I work in a shop of 500 mechanics, and we have microwaves and coffeepots around, and fridges in several side rooms. We always have drinks or such on our boxes, often eat lunch at our box if we don't go to the break room. Pizza party's are set up in the middle of the shop floor, thanksgiving and christmas dinners are catered in the middle of the shop, never had an ounce of trouble.

It's either a state law, or a menopausal osha inspector.

Right answer here ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ :pimpflash

Actually the sad truth is there are times that OSHA can make a citation stick and unfortunately employers are too dumb to contest the citations so they will actually pay for a citation that OSHA would lose if the employer chose to contest and fight the citation. So I guess it really does not surprise me that a shop in Texas paid a fine for a citation that would not have stood up under the close scrutiny of being contested. So yea it would not be the first time an employer paid for a citation they could have beat OSHA on! I have seen it many times before.

OSHA, they like to make it very hard. So many variables come into play. So most inspectors or company safety officers find it easiest to just memorize the hardest ones and apply them everywhere vs learning the variables. A few do it the other way.

It makes a big difference who enters the space, what type of business, how the space is laid out, how far break areas are away, air turns, is it a clean in terms of bacteria - bugs area, how is the waste handled, what type of dust is in the area and on and on. So rather than go this building must do it this way and this building way 2 and the next building 3 just shut food down in all of them it is easier to control and less whining why do they get to do it. Lets see your in the brake area and what is in the dust and you want to eat it!!

Actually PPlz-These Box rocks!! Im a machine Builder and have been an electrician for over 25yrs, the nicest thing about this box "IS" the radio and fridge!I work in a shop with 12 other guys, with there wimpy "DeWalt and sony radios ( ROFLMAO). I crank up some Skynard and these Kids start Crying! And the fridge keeps the (Hiden Bud Ice Cold). With plenty room for tool storage, and it holds up pretty good . You dont wanna spend 5k on a box you take to work, save that for the home garage. But for the price, u cant beat it!

Our shop is always like that, sometimes we do an employee dinner and have 3-4 church tables set out with food on the shop floor. We've never had a problem.

I am looking for a box now and I work at a Lawn Mower Shop we eat lunch in the shop and I look forward to everyday we take lunch. There are 4 large boxes and tools all over the place. This is close to heaven to me.I have a cup of coffee at my box every day and the coffee. I am still alive! We have a clean shop. I have been at some restaurants that are dirty. You have but you did not know it. I hope the government lets us eat and work in peace. The screw everything else up! I did not know stainless steel was hard to keep clean until I read about it here.Thank you everyone. This is a big expense to purchase a box and I need all the help I can get.

Was at Sears Sunday night & noticed their 41in stainless rollaway has some clear coating on it to prevent fingerprints etc. It works...

You sure you werent looking at their silver boxes? When I was there the stainless ones did not have a clear coat but they had a silver one that looked similar to stainless that was painted. If I recall, the stainless ones were cheaper than the painted.
