So this is just a tap and die set...without the ability to cut threads? Seems kinda useless.

This is one of the most used sets in my shop...I recommend you search this item on GJ and read up....

Big +1 here. I use this set way more than my tap and die set. If you take anything apart this is the set to have.

Hmm, search kinda confirms what I thought, it's more a nice to have than need to have, especially if I already have a tap and die set. I will add it to my list for sure, it won't be super high up though. :eyecrazy:

well the thing is, when you are removing and reusing old bolts/nuts that have gnarled up threads, you use this set. If you use tap/die, you are cutting out the material which should be there. This set simply puts that material back where it belongs...

I gotta quirt looking at this section.

Anyhow, I bought this the craftsman stripped nut removers and drill out sets, the gear wrench wrench set and the gear wrench universal sockets.

I had an incomplete set of snap-on, mac, and matco universals that covered some of my needs....now I have most things covered.

It has been a while since I splurged on tools.

I was due.

I have the same Snap on set at work, and have used it many times.

I bought this one a couple weeks ago for home, and have already used it.

It's a great set in addition to a tap and die set.

For the benefit of whomever is interested in this set. Sears does not warranty these, however, Snap On does sell the individual pieces (for $2- $4.5 each with free shipping), so if you break one, you still have $80 that you have saved to buy warrantied Snap On ones to replace broken craftsman ones!

Nice find OP! Been waiting for these to go on sale, and as mitusa said, they've lowered the price to 49.01.
Could only find a save $5 on $35 coupon, so $44.01 on it's way to me with free shipping.

Found this on the clearance shelf in my local sears, missing one piece. Emailed the company inquiring about purchasing said piece, he sent it to me for free, great company to work with, and made in USA to boot, I can't say enough good about these guys!

The 48 piece rethreading kit was on sale for $39.99 last month for Craftsman Club members. If you aren't in a hurry for it you might wait and see if it goes down that low again.

just purchased for 49.01, free shipping. thanks OP. couldn't find a save 5 on 35 code like inkedforlife mentioned, but oh well, this kit will most definitely come in hand on my quad, always taking screws and bolts in and out of it for some type of repair haha!

I need this set like no tomorrow. Constantly borrowing these. The pawn shop has a MAC tools one for 49.99 that's new. I may end up with it if it's still there. If not then this Craftsman one will do me fine as they are all KASTAR.

I keep some small items in my cart for times like this, I even use the .99 pencils when I need to add a buck to an order.

I used the 10.00 off in points for tool purchase over 50.00 coupon
I also used the 5.00 for 20.00 tool purchase that I got from the SYRW app

Took it from 49.01 to 44.01 plus free shipping and 10.00 back in points made it 34.01, plus there was no tax since I had all SYRW points to pay for it (well, almost all, I paid 1.00 with credit card otherwise the 10.00 back in points will not work with free purchases)

Thanks OP

If you add 2 of these to your cart, the price drops to $41.51 each. What's up with that?

You likely have a $15 off $75 coupon that is being applied here:

2 x $49.01 = $98.02
2 x $41.51 = $83.02
---------------------
difference: $15.00

Nobody wants to get the same exact set from Snap-On or Mac for $150 :dunno:

One thing with these sets though, they have the lifetime warranty badge on the outside, but when you open the case there is a card informing you that they are NOT covered by the lifetime warranty. Then again, I have yet to see anyone need to warranty them.

Mine didn't have any card stating so inside. Do you have a pic of it?

This is now at $39.96. Marked as a "hot buy" so most coupons and codes probably wont work. You'll also have to pad the total to 59 to get free shipping since pickup is not available.

Thanks for the heads up. I've always wanted to have one of these sets and that's a good price for a made in the USA set.

I have owned one of these sets for a few years. I have used it so much i may buy a second to have as a backup. These files came in handy when a buddy of mine decided to zip lunges onto my track car with a cordless impact without prethreading the nuts first....
