Please see review/discussion thread here on new old stock Wirepro diagonal cutters and linesmans I bought off Cripes Ebay recently. These are a fraction of the cost of new Kleins and closeout stock. Get some while you can if you can use these electrical tools:

Anyone for a Knipex or other comparison?

Why are you posting this here.

That's a funny question. It is a deal. Closeout. Limited time. Good value tools. If you like, check it out. If not, don't! These are on Amazon and Ebay now. Don't know how many are out there or how long they will be available. But only made for a limited time in the early 2000's so limited stock. If you go to ebay or amazon and just search on "wirepro" you'll see what can be had. Linesmans are $8 or less, strippers $4 or less, 8" diagonal cutters $8 or less. These are great deals for US made tools of high quality. There doesn't seem to be much awareness of what this brand is or the quality of it. I'm saying I've now tried them and can recommend them. At these prices, a real deal I think. I'm sharing this for others to benefit, which is what I do, whenever I can. Help others out - it's a good philosophy for life. - Paul

Re: Very GOOD Stippers

those 8" diagonals are killer! They seem to have more leverage than identical Channellocks and even Knipex and CMan of course (I own all mentioned fortherecord)

Seriously though, who posts a thread in the "hot deals" forum that says please see the review/discussion thread. Isn't that what the "GENERAL TOOL DISCUSSION" is for?!

idk you tell me, post #16
What items are good deals at Harbor Freight?

was there a specific item you were promoting as a good deal or just upping your post count?

Promoting? I'm not sure where you're going with this. Harbor Freight doesn't give me kickbacks or anything if that's what you're implying.

Seriously bro, go grind an axe somewhere else.

Rice: I think you need a vacation or something. I posted this to help others. Enough said. It's a deal. Sounds like you have a sharp axe to grind which I simply do not understand. If you don't like the post, just ignore the thread and move on. I posted the link for context, because without the context, nobody would know if this deal was any good or for them. There are no other reviews on the wirepro tools, so I made one. Who wouldn't post a link to a relevant thread when in another thread? I post relevant links all the time. If you don't like it, don't read my posts! Have a great day and thanks for all your helpful input here! :eyecrazy: - Paul

Yeah, they work really really good! That is why I posted this! LInesmans are really really good too! These are so good that anyone needing an 8" size diagonal cutter or 9" linesmans should check these out at these prices! The wire cutters are also very precisely made but I haven't done as much with them yet. Look superb. The needle nose pliers is very stiff and nice as well! I'm really surprised and impressed by these tools as I was expecting like a Taiwan COO equivalent (not as good as Kleins) and what these are is either as good as Kleins (certainly my 30 year old ones) or very close. Very nice stuff. - Paul

Cripes has amazing deals on ebay all day long. It's old news here but they had amazing closeout prices on DANAHER tools like Kobalt and K-D.

3bay, yes Cripes is nothing new (although I only recently discovered thanks to GJ), but what is new is the context that these are good tools. Maybe some knew that, but if so, it has been kept a major secret on wirepro. There were no other reviews out there or opinions, other than some negative ones. - Paul

Yes, I don't care for that style either. I didn't buy a pair of those. I got the other pair, the more triangular looking ones, with the stripping part on the end of the nose, not down closer to the handles. I think that style in general is a step up over the older style, for any brand. - Paul

Forum Nazis of the world, unite!

Appreciated your post, OP, as I'm sure others did.

LOL good one, I had a forum Nazis talk **** a while back. Funny thing is I post good finds all the time. All he would do is blast my website, he never posted anything to benefit the members. Lots of people talking a big game behind a keyboard. Thanks for the post Paul.

Hey Elronin, I think you and I think alike. You should hire me to do tool reviews for your site on the side! Since I would be an independent contractor for reviews, I would not be held by your ethical constraints of returning all "reviewed" tools back to the manufacturer! I could just keep them all that I review whether they are good or not! That would be fine for my payment method! Just PM me with your offer! :) - Paul

LOL I wish I made any real money of the site, I've made about 170 dollars in 6 months. Do it for fun, and the little I get I buy a tool here and there. I've only gotten one item from a inventor which was the StudPop which was pretty cool, and I've used it several times since. Wish I was making big money I would hire people to do reviews.

You need to invert, reciprocate, and turn your thinking all around in your brain! Once you hire me, people will come to your site just to see what kind of crazy reviews I end up posting there! You will soon overpower Google and Facebook for views and net worth. You could sell advertising and retire early with enough left over to buy all the nice tools you want! :) Gotta think outside the toolbox sometimes! Hire Paul first, good things happen after that! :3gears: - Paul

You gotta picture of the jaw pattern? Just asking I recently picked up a pair with a pair of channellock 908s and they look similar (as in unmarked) but the jaw design pattern (the grip part) is slightly odd. got a super deal on them (around 3.50 for both) and the linesman pliers seem pretty well made but they don't have and manufacturer markings.

I'm not really a fan of linesman head to tell you the truth. Rarely use the ones I already have.

Hey Nick, I don't have any photos beyond what is out there on Ebay or Amazon. Yes, a comparison to channellocks is interesting. $3.50 for those is a real steal! Although I'm really just diving into electric work the last two years, I use a linesmans, diagonal cutter, needlenose, and strippers often. I didn't have a BIG diagonal cutter before this 8" wirepro one, so used the linesmans to cut the whole NM 12-2 wire bundle at once. Now that I have it, I could use this diagonal cutter to do that, as well as any other cutting, and probably not have to have the linesman. But it is useful for other things too, like pulling the NM through holes and such with the grip on it, or as a general monster set of pliers for any kind of tough gripping work not even electric in nature.

I actually have two pairs of like 30 year old Klein linesmans I had been using that I picked up at real auctions or else garage sales long ago. Can't recall when I got these anymore, and I didn't know "Klein" from "Adam" back then, I just knew after I used them awhile they were really good and became my favorites to grab. One of the two had the cutting area chipped out from hard use, whereas the other was still good but somewhat dulled after all these years! I thought about getting rid of the one that was damaged but just couldn't do it! Instead, I relagated that pair to a second tool box for general monster pliers use instead, where it still excels and is quite pleased to perform in that role. I don't think I'll ever throw away a Klein tool! The new wirepro linesman is sharper and cuts better than my old Klein one. We'll have to wait another 30 years to see how it does in the long term life comparison, but I'm switching over to using these new wirepro tools now as first grab.

Off topic anyone, are there good and easy ways to sharpen my old Klein tools cutting edges and how would one recommend doing that? I don't want to mess them up, but sharper might make them stellar tools once again. What might be best practice to try that for linesman and small diagoonal cutters?

I think I must have been too aggressive getting Elronin to recruit me! I am still waiting for that PM job offer from him! :eyecrazy: - Paul

I ordered a set of wire strippers from this ebay seller. I doubt that they are Kleins. All that is printed on tool is Taiwan!

Hey VW, you are correct the strippers are Taiwan coo. The needlenose, linesmans, and cutters are the US made. All are under Klein's watch though and the Wirepro brand. The strippers they sourced different than the rest. None of these are identical to any Klein, but were made under Klein's watch. The strippers are very high quality also but with Taiwan coo there. Cripes didn't say they were US, only on the other tools. - Paul

Use one of those round "diamond" sharpeners and a good honing oil. That should work well. But these really shouldn't burr at all. Depends on how you work though.

Thx Nicks, that sounds like something to try. It wouldn't be round though, the cutting edges are all flat. A light diamond hone might be the best way to go to try. I think anything else might just mess them up. Mine have a couple small burrs/chips but they are 30 years old. Likely cut steel more than a few times also. - Paul
