I've got my 22 x 12 lean-to addition under roof and been planning on building some carriage style doors, but not sure how I'm going to mount/add windows/use vinyl siding etc.....

I framed opening as large a I could, would like to make doors wide enough so I can back in car trailer.

here's were I'm at now, any ideas?

If I'm understanding you correctly why don't you make the carriage doors like a swing gate? Framed with 2 x 4, sheathed with plywood and use tension cable on the diagonals to keep them from sagging.

Yes and No, I don't want to build the doors like you described, but it's the only idea I have currently. (maybe make them arched with the left side being a separate upper and lower halves, so I can open upper for ventilation or something) below is the doors I made already, they are flush mounted to allow the large sliding door to be slid over them)

May want to incorporate some type of rain flashing over the doors. The lack of gable overhang is going to allow water to permeate the top of your doors.

You've got to be talking big $$$$ for a custom door like that, definately more than you have in the rest of your lean-to.

Off topic ..........Am I seeing your OSB on the rear wall not breaking on nailers?
I would think over time there may be some bulking issues...........

Yes, that's a great idea. I think I could make slightly decorative and use up the leftover metal roofing.

I'll be building these doors myself, I've built this complete garage including both sliding and smaller carriage style doors. here's a link to my build thread (having issues with signature) http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5883

If you google "carriage dutch doors" you'll see a few and if you delete dutch you'll see a bunch. And then if you add "house" in lieu of dutch it gets better. Now if you use european, antique and western, etc. as modifiers, you'll see a few fresh hits on each search.

You have to work at this, man.
