My homemade welder cart!

Hey all. I wanted to share with everyone my new to me welder cart. I am glad I did my homework searching here on GJ for ideas. Thank you to those that contributed.

I picked up a used three drawer filing cabinet and four-4" casters at my local used office /second hand furniture store yesterday. The cabinet is all steel, has roller ball bearing slides and are full extension. Today I attached the casters and set my wire welder on it to see how it will work. I have to say I am pleased with it. Total I have $42 ******* in it.

I plan to attach four short pieces of pipe for the rubber feet on my welder to sit inside so it can't be knocked off. I have a handle and two flat steel hooks still to attach so I can wrap my welding and ground cables around. I am also looking for ideas to make my own collapsable side tray/shelf. Any thought or design anyone cares to share?

Well I am almost finished with my cart. I made good progress this weekend. Actually all that I have left is to secure the power strip and make a folding side shelf. I ended up installing four smaller bolts that the rubber cupped feet on the welder straddle to keep the welder from sliding off. Here are some updated pictures. Very practical, functional way to 're-purpose' a cabinet. The handle is a nice addition. Looks good.

The handle was a bicycle storage rack for a car I repurposed for my cart. It worked out that the width of the bike rack and the cabinet was the same.

Nice setup. Well done.
