Just wanted to share this with you, it’s made my compressor and I much happier.

I’m sure most of you already have something similar, but up until a short awhile ago I was just using some cut-outs from old mud flaps to help with vibration.

While cleaning up around my compressor I looked at the pads and thought I really need something thicker, something that will absorb better.

So, I did a little research here on GJ and found this Idea from floyd

I thought what the Hell, went to Home Depot and picked up the set.
To my amazement, these pads work great! The compressor seems to like them just fine. It’s actually quieter than before.

The pads measure 3 ¼” square x 1 ¼” thick. My compressor’s rated weight is 648 pounds. I did not bolt it down; it’s just resting on the pads. They are carrying the weight just fine, the compressor is stable and it has not budged whatsoever.

Sometimes a little research does payoff.

Needless to say I’m very happy with this arrangement, thanks floyd!

I've been running those for about four years now. They're an ideal solution. Despite appearances, the machine's not bolted to the floor - that's just a carriage bolt that comes up through the pad just so the pad can never slip out from under a foot, although it's unlikely that it would.

It would be interesting to see how these $30 pads compare to $0.99 hockey pucks. I am not bashing them.....just curious if they are noticeably better.

Mine is bolted to 2x8s from the shipping pallet, do those rubber feet really quieten it down?

Hi bob, somehow I new you would be in on this one…Lol

In my case I did notice a difference. I was using cut pieces of mud flaps that were very stiff. With the new pads I immediately noticed the compressor sounding different, a little quieter yes, but the actual tone changed as well, softer sounding you might say.

Anyway, I’m much happier with the results and I’m sure it helps with vibration stress issues on the rest of the components, mag-starter etc.

So b-body, how’s that new Baldor treating you these days?

Well, considering hockey pucks are like rocks as compared to these pads, I would suspect a significant difference. I would think using the pucks would be similar to just resting the compressor directly on concrete.

Hey guys, these things really work well, that’s why I’m sharing.

Remember, sharing is caring…..Lol ;)

So far so good, but I've hardly had time to use it. The house next door quick-sold to a developer and I'm trying to get it bought from him or it's going to turn into an acre of concrete covered in apartments. Nothing like losing a third of your property value thanks to lax zoning and greedy developers.

Anyway, I noticed that when my compressor is running and you put your hand on it, it's actually shaking like a bowl of jelly. I doubt the 2x8s are helping with that. It's actually not too loud, but if it can be even quieter that's better.
