It was actually an existing fox fan, but I tossed the rusty, bet up box part and just used the inner fan part and welded up a a new frame for it from 1" square tube. The pivoting frame is 2" sch. 40 pipe; with short stubs of sch. 80 on the pivots, since 1 1/2" pipe fits inside 2" sch. 80 (usually). I wanted to get it hung to see if it would even work, as far as the frame supporting the weight and pivoting, before I do the details such as safety screens, paint, etc. I can stand on the frame with my 200 lb. fat *** with no problem. Thanks to Tom Staude for the round punchouts I made my flanges from, and my buddy Louie for donating the pipe.

I want to see this thing running! I figured the vid would show you hanging onto the pipe while the rest of you waved like a flag! :D

This would be a pretty good swamp cooler set-up, too.

Put a light behind it and make your own Ridley Scott movie (if you haven't noticed at some point in all his films he somehow manages to work in a fan with light coming behind it)

I'll be doing the same thing,I was givin an older 36" steel frame whole house attic fan.The thing is like new condition and my stand up 24" i've used for years is shot.It is a cheap one and i think the brushes are done.I will look into it,but i will still build the new one.Simple is better and moving air is all that matters to me,I will just build a steel frame to support it,expanded metal across the front to keep my fingers out of it,and of course,it will have locking castors.
