Anybody know who manufactured the Saltus wrenches for Craftsman?

Sorry to ask a maybe stupid question, but why do you call them "Saltus wrenches"? To me, being european, Saltus is a german tool manufacturer, now owned by Atlas-Copco.
That is why; much in the same way many people call all adjustables a Crescent wrench here (or a Bahco on your side of the pond)...
I can't answer that question for you Roverbo but I'd like to know too. Maybe something with an inventor or patent?
Craftsman called them Saltus. Other brands may have, I seem to think I saw it somewhere else too. (...)
Craftsman called them Saltus.
If you want a set by Facom you'll spend nearly $500.
Actually, I don't believe Craftsman ever referred to them as Saltus wrenches; I think they were always called Combination (Open & Socket) Wrenches...
The German company invented the wrench in 1953, so they get the glory! Craftsman introduced their version in 1956.

Craftsman referred to theirs dually as Saltus and Open-End/Socket-End, LB. Here's a 2006-2007 cat. Craftsman sold the S-K version as well via catalog and listed those as Saltus in the index, but called them flex combination on the sale page.
What's not clear in the catalog is if these were rebranded with the CRAFTSMAN logo or just sold with the SK logo on them.I bought a mint set of Proto SAE, probably never used, at a yard sale a few years ago for $15., but I don't think I've ever used them either. Don't know why, they seem like a good idea, I just never reach for them. I have a bunch of other singles in all different brands, including some double enders, Snap On, Mac, Craftsman, etc. Some of those I've at least used a couple times.
