I have an old floor jack apparently made by "National Standard Co." of Niles MI and Guelph Ont. I have not been successful in finding similar floor jacks in my searches so far; it appears as if the company is still in business and makes wire currently. I am guessing that the hydraulic jack portion may have been made by another manufacturer, and that National Standard assembled the unit and put their name on it. A number of the castings have a "62" dash something on them, so perhaps this is a model 62 jack? The lift arm has "62-2-T" - maybe a 2 TN jack? I added oil and the jack does work and hold, although it badly leaks oil at the pump piston when pumping.
I am considering rebuilding and restoring, but the lift arm attachment casting is broken where it attaches to the cylinder ram (although the missing piece is opposite the side where pressure would be applied), and there is another repair on lifting arm casting. Because of this, should I pass on a restoration and possible use? Since I have not found photos or references to similar jacks I am guessing they are not too common, which would be one reason to restore it as a conversation piece even if it is not safe to use.
From the photos does it look like the hydraulic unit may have been made by one of the major manufacturers? I have not found markings on the unit other than a "62-" with the remaining portion unreadable.
Thanks for any and all advice.
