I went to an estate sale yesterday and was looking in the unlit storage shed out back. At first I didnt see it on the floor. (It seems that most workshops are poorly lighted or no lights at all)
It was the body of a Wilton. Just the body stripped all the way down. As my eyes adjusted to the gloom I could see something wrapped in paper towels--it looked like the movable jaw. The estate sale guy wanted $20 and I tried to talk him down :) At first I wasnt going to do it but I kept looking until I found the screw and both pieces of the base (also wrapped in paper towels). That left the wingnuts for the base adjusters and the C shaped piece for retaining the screw. I didnt find those pieces but gave him the $20 and went home and made the C.

Another estate sale didnt have any guy stuff except one old wrench. Its a B&C S-shaped adjustable. $1

Bemis & Call was an early maker of tools and hardware dating back to an 1844 partnership between Stephen C. Bemis and Amos Call. The company produced a variety of tools including pipe wrenches, monkey wrenches, and other adjustable wrenches, and was especially well known for their S-shaped adjustable wrenches.
The line of S-shaped adjustable wrenches was introduced in 1894.

I have learned to always ask for rusty stuff at yard sales. The women ask, "Why would I have rusty stuff?" ummm, its because you can get MONEY for rusty stuff. I have asked the estate sale ladies for 'rusty stuff' and 'guy stuff' for several years and the estate ladies now include the phrase 'guy stuff' in their advertisements. One sold me an old license plate for a quarter and later expressed astonishment that anyone would pay for an old license plate. :) Her husband was selling the stuff in the garage and told me that no one would buy those unsorted nuts and bolts in the jars and cans. Said he was going to put them out for the trash. Of course I volunteered to help and backed my Model A coupe up to the garage door. I filled the trunk up so high I couldnt close the lid and began putting more on the floor and front seat. It was a great haul, never even thought about getting a picture.
