I bought one awhile back for same price. It is a deal! Very stout bar. Neighbor and I used it to pry out a small tree stump.

If anyone would prefer one that is even cheaper yet, I purchased two of the Ludell version from Sears about a year ago. They are still on clearance. I don't remember where it was made, but it was not the US. It is forged and I have been happy with it for prying out stumps, etc. I got mine for around $10 each shipped:lol_hitti, but right now they are still only $14 each with free shipping if you are a SYWR MAX member. Coupons and rewards point discounts might work to bring the price down more, I don't know.

Ludell prybar

For those of you who do not like sears, amazon has it as well.

So the Mayhew is Chrome Vanadium steel and the Ludell is Carbon steel. Other than that they seem to be the same weight and length. Is there a real world benefit to the Mayhew being alloy steel?

In for one; thanks OP! Better to have a 60" steel bar and not need it, than to need a 60" steel bar and not have one...

Who knows?
Really wasn't planning on spending any more money, but couldn't pass this up.

Thanks OP! Anyone know what these normally go for?

I really do not like this place anymore.... I have a cheap POS made in India one and just convinced myself I need this (even though the other one has been fine so far).

Ordered one. I was charged sales tax so it might be shipping from within SC.

Thanks OP!

I just paid tax in NY - I think it depends on whether they have 'operations' there more than where it ships from. Either way, I still can't get my head around how they can possibly make money shipping these for free, with or without the extra $5 off.

+1 Thanks OP.

I confirmed in the Mayhew catalog that it's US made and am really looking forward to putting it to use. I've been keeping an eye out for a 24" adjustable spud wrench to help getting tractor implements on, but I think this will do! I have a cheap 60" pinch point crowbar that is okay but a bit on the flexible side of ideal, so I'm hoping this is as stout as all the other Mayhew products I have.

FWIW the Ludell is about the same weight at 14 lbs:

Ordered yesterday and delivered this morning already. I bought them for my guys in the field. Many times a bar like this can save me from having to send an extra guy out to help adjust something that would take 2 minutes with the bar.

I also paid tax in Illinois.

I bought one months ago for same price. Bought one for my friend that works for the sewer plant. Once he had to use his 36" snap on pry bar to open a stuck gate. I'm sure he will find uses for it!

How did you get it for this price months ago? Or is this not a hot deal?

I think Hot deals are sometimes just 'discoveries' that people get excited about. Tool Source has it for $36.95. Of course shipping is extra. Here is Google Products pricing on it:

Of course $24 shipped is a pretty good deal, but that's not to say it will disappear. The 60" is about $5 cheaper than the corresponding 38" bar at Zoro, so it's equally possible that after shipping all these to GJ members at low margins, the Zoro pricing systems might pump it up. On the other hand maybe they didn't pay for for them and are happy to continue selling at the prices.:dunno:

How did you do the $5 off and free shipping?

Zoro ended the ebay listing due to it no longer being available. I wonder if this thread caused it to sell out.
Zoros site says item ships in 10 days. Thats why I ordered one for my friend once people on this forum get the 411 on something it disappears.

Go to 2nd link in orginal post. This is zoros site. Free shipping over $25. Enter dontforget for coupon code and it is lowered from 28.99-23.99.
