Well I seen different people talking about how to remove these from prying to boiling water to spray lube.
I thought I'd just post some pics up and maybe I can help a random person or two out. I simply wanted to put a green comfort grip on. But the same would be followed if you wanted to do a hard handle. I'm pretty sure tho you have to cut the end of the ratchet off a little and ream out the hard handle. But enough with the talk and onto the simple how to pictures
I started out with a snap on fhlf80 comfort grip 3/8" ratchet

I then boiled a small pot of water

I then stuck the grip part of the ratchet in. Be careful not to let it sit on the bottom of the pot as I didn't know if maybe that would be too hot and melt the bottom. I wanted to save my grip to sell that's why I was so careful with it.

Pay attention to the time. I only left it in for about 2-3 minutes

I didn't have a picture of this because I needed both hands but pull it out of the water and grab the grip with a towl so you don't burn your hands and simply pull off the grip. It should just pull right off. If not, then put it in the water longer.

Make sure to turn the stove off and voila!!! You have the handle off and you didn't leave any pry marks.
I will post pics when I stick the new one on but that is pretty self explanatory.

Yeah after doing it that way I don't know why anyone would try prying it off with a prybar. Even if the grip is a junk one it is just so much easier and slides right off after boiling it.

Anyone interested in the brand new red grip I took off? First person to paypal me $8 can have it

Well I got the new grip today

I then put my ratchet in the vise with some jaw pads to protect the chrome and got it all lined up and wiped it down with thinner to remove any oils

I then stuck the handle in some boiling wanted for 2 minutes and pulled it out with tongs and gloves

Line it up on the ratchet and slowly drive it down with a soft face dead blow

Thanks...the whole thing of just simply boiling the grip for a minute or two is really the key here and you will never even think of prying them off or forcing it on ever again.
It makes it so easy my 6 year old son could pull one off
