I picked up a case earlier myself.

5 year shelf life, 2 years once you open it. I use this in my 50cc chainsaw, seems like a good way to avoid rebuilding carbs.

So it's $25 for a qt of premixed?

Each box has 6 cans.

Wow, cause premixing is so tough. Also most gas stations have no eth pumps, at least in MN and ND they do.

That seems horribly expensive. $4.00/gal for eth free here and 1.00 worth of mix. I guess you dont tie up a gas can, but those aren't that expensive.

Uh, not around here.

I could drive 30 miles, pay $4.75/gallon for 89 octane, add Stabil and two stroke oil, and I'm already at ~$22 for the same 6 qts.

Or pick this up for $26 after tax, and get the extra 4 octane pts of knock protection.

I can see the motivation for tools that are used only briefly.

This is about the price of white gas -- 'Coleman Fuel'.

I have multi-fuel camping stoves that could readily burn anything from a pump, but it's well worth spending the money for the special stuff. I only use a quart or two a year, and the unpredictable mixture and additives in pump gas isn't worth the risk of destroying seals.

This is for stoves where replacement rubber parts are available. I've had bad experiences with older small engines where you just couldn't get seals and rubber parts. When the alcohol breaks down something like a primer bulb, you might find that you have throw the whole tool away.

Lucky you. Nothing within a 50 mile radius. The website says yes but the stations say we don't sell it any more

What's your final octane then? Pure ethanol's (R+M)/2 is ~122 pts.

Someone do the math, I'm on a phone.

EUse that to your advantage. Just pour a cup or two of clean water into a gallon of 10% ethanol gasoline from your local gas station. Then stir and mix it together vigorously for a minute or two. The ethanol will quickly separate from the gasoline and dissolve into the water. Then let it all rest. After 20-30 minutes of resting the new ethanol/water mixture will now be sitting on the bottom of the gas can because it is heavier than the gasoline. The pure gasoline should now also be clear again and easy to see through.

Is it really that easy? I hate this Ethanol gas. It kills all of the rubber parts in my old dirt bike. Even NOS replacements don't help, cause they're NOS!

I was looking at ordering some race fuel, but even that is a PITA in CA.

I still don't see why people are having problems running pump gas in small engines. I've been running it in my weed eater for years with zero problems. I leave gas in the tank year round, but I do use it year round, except Jan-March. I live in a very high humidity area too. I have learned a half once more oil seems to make it run much better. My set up is the one with the attachments. I use it for the weed eater, hedge trimmer, edger, blower and a I have a tiller attachment I used once.... Needless to say, the motor gets a work out.

I see there's an ethanol free station near me but the octane level
(94) is too high to run in my small engines. Can I bring it down?

Over time, the ethanol component will cause the fuel lines to crack and develop air or fuel leaks. They also mess up the rubber and plastic parts of carburators. Some lines are better than others as are some carbs. Best these days to empty out completely all 2 cycle small engines of fuel when done and put it back in the can. Best to use Stabil or similar with every new can of gas. Best to not use any over a couple months old also or plan to replace more frequently your gas supply. There are many many posts on this topic on the net - it is all well known now and not a question - ethanol is a pain for small engines. I'm going to try the water method above soon. - Paul

Hey Paul check this out. Now I need to figure out a way to extract the fuel and leave the water behind. Any idea?

I'm new to synthetic TruFuel and wondering if my Echo PAS can switch back to regular E0 after using it, or once I use the TRU-FUEL do I have to keep using it forever?
