Top $239.99
Bottom $459.99

$699.98

I couldn't get any coupons to work but you get 3% thru eBates.com right now.

Sale ends 8/16/2014. This is $100 less than Black Friday 2013 pricing. Boxes are decent, have a lifetime warranty for breakage, and have Grip-latch with 100# per drawer rating.

Me too. I have a brand new HF 44" sitting in my garage still with the packaging. No tools have been in it. I bought it 2 days ago, then this sale pops up. It's getting returned! I like this Craftsman box more. I got lucky that this went on sale this weekend.

I looked at the Harbor Freight box and Craftsman Box, the reason i picked the Craftsman Box is bc of the Griplatch handles. I was using a small ****** *** husky box and got tired of doors not coming out or not closing......

I will say my local sears had a bad batch of these boxes and returned two of the bottom boxes before I got a good one. But I believe this is before they moved assembly back to the USA from Mexico.

Granted the HD Craftsman are the best boxes you can get from them, I'd still rather have the HF.

And a thing to note, these are indeed 40", not 41" like most other boxes. I wanted to buy one of the Craftsman 40" middle boxes, but they won't fit my HF or Masterforce 41" boxes.

Thanks I'm going to look them over very carefully before I bring them home.

Grip-latch is a big part of the reason I bought it as well. Plus I like the black color. Also the bottom right drawer, perfect for putting cans of spray, grease etc. in.

Build quality over the HF was better IMO. The steel is slightly thinner, but it's made to a higher level. More precise in terms of drawer mountings, and the drawers are higher rated and that is obvious when you push down on them. The HF drawer pulls flex, the Craftsman does not (at least not as much).

HF44 is a great box but this is smoother IMO. One thing the HF44 has over the Craftsman is the casters are better, they roll easier.

had this bottom roller in stainless and it was a very good box for the money. I can comment how it compares to the HF44, but i know some cman boxes are built like garbage but this was actually pretty sturdy

I got my bottom for 300 on clearance which was more than 50% off. 400 for both is a smoking deal

$699.98 is the lowest they go unless clearance. The sales guy at my sears said that by selling the box for $699.98 sears actually sells them below cost.

I walked into the Harbor Freight recently and checked out the box to see if I had made a mistake in purchasing my craftsman box and the floor model was pretty crappy, but I chalked it up to every damn fool molesting it

Good choice, I have the top/middle/bottom stack and they are nice boxes.

A little late to the party... The heavy duty is $300 more lol

That's not the same box. Notice the 6 year warranty. The link takes you to the heavy duty premium, which has a lifetime warranty, and is $699.98 :)!

That was the point.....the top picture is the "Premium" for $699 and the lesser quality "Heavy Duty" in the bottom picture is almost $300 more. 2 pictures = 2 different tool boxes.

How did you end up with $62? If I add it to cart on sears.com, it shows me $7 base + the $20 coupon. If I add it to cart on Craftsman.com, it shows me $35 base (didn't login to see the coupon).

I have $15 off $75 in tools on my account in surprise points to use on my order which helps. My plan is to use the Discover portal someone recommended to get the extra 10% back.

How long does store pickup normally take? Figure I will order this afternoon, maybe an hour before I would be in store.

I wish I would have waited and just bought one of these. I am seriously thinking about selling the current combo and just going with one of these. :rocker:http://www.sears.com/craftsman-42in...p-00928240000P?prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4

You're kidding, right?

Either you've never played with a tool truck box before, or you simply haven't actually looked at craftsman boxes. Their cheaper lines have drawers that are rated for 25-50lbs. Their upper lines are usually 75-100lbs a drawer. A tool truck box can support an entire 200+lb person in one drawer. The harbor freight box and Masterforce boxes can too- and their are pictures somewhere on here to prove it.

The steel in their boxes is just as thin as Husky and Kobalt.

Most of the drawers aren't even completely welded together. They either rivet them or spot weld.

They often lack any type of reinforcement brackets on larger drawers, and the corners of the toolboxes.

The list goes on too...

The box listed here isn't bad (it's a top of the line craftsman model), but it's no where near tool truck quality.

Oh hell no the premium heavy duty boxes are not nearly as good as the snap-on or mac boxes ect.... But if you view the link Sears offers a craftsman box that from price point is very competitive to the truck boxes.

View the link before you start attacking me like a 12 year old troll
I believe the drawers are rated for the drawers are 400-600lbs

So you mean at $700 this box is a good value? No argument there. But that is very different from saying:

Not true Craftsman actually makes the best boxes aside truck boxes. Their top boxes are actually competitive with snap-on.

Which says that Craftsman boxes (the top line boxes) are nearly as good as Snap On.

A Toyota may be a good value for a car, but it's far from competitive with a BMW. Competitive and value are two very different things.

I believe the drawers are rated for the drawers are 400-600lbs

Taken from the Sear's website: "100lb rated ball bearing slides." That is for both the 72" and the 41" toolbox.

But hey, we can always resort to name calling!

Dang, let's just leave this CM box as a great advanced user box and great alternative to the wonderful HF 44 (42) neither of which cost as much as the "truck box" nor have 200+ lb rated drawers. Great competitive tool boxes that meets the needs for semi-pro users

The 72' box has drawer rating of 400-600lb for large drawers and 100lb rating for the small drawers, read full description. My friend has a snap-on box and is leaps and bounds better than my Craftsman Premium Heavy duty, But these drawer rating are comparable to the Truck boxes. Are they as durable I don't know, I don't have one.
These ratings are similar to the truck boxes..
Weather or not the ratings are reliable is another story we know how sears likes to fudge the numbers lol.
But as far as name calling I try to stay above it, I usually try to avoid things like this, but when someone post to specifically attack my post without fully reading the post kind of annoys me.

That 400-600lb weight rating looks like it's for the entire box. I can't find anything that suggests otherwise.

If we're all blind and missing it, please, take a screen capture and circle where it says that's a drawer rating, then post it here.

Wow....Ok my bad guys thanks Bcaradio I mistyped that its suppose to say"Aside from truck boxes" and I meant Price wise. "Price Wise" was suppose to be in that post lol my bad guys. Now I see why everybody is jumping on that post/comment.
Talking from a price point and not quality. My friends 72' Cornwel box was a little over 3k now this craftsman box is less quality box, but for a third of the price and still 72'. I am talking "bang for your buck" kind of deal.

That 400-600lb weight rating looks like it's for the entire box. I can't find anything that suggests otherwise.

If we're all blind and missing it, please, take a screen capture and circle where it says that's a drawer rating, then post it here.

But if that was for the entire box then doesn't that mean each drawer could only hold something like 25 or 50lbs????? A far worse rating then the box in the OP????

Just so I can be clear and everybody does not get their ******* in a bunch :spit:

Quality: Snap-on/Truck Brand>Craftsman Pro series
Value: Snap-on/Truck Brand=Craftsman Pro Series. (I wish someone had one to chime in.

I'll be honest guys I think Snap-on boxes are way overrated. My friend has had a Cornwell and a Snap-on Box.
He paid 4500 for the Snap-On Box which is only a 2 bay 56' box and he paid 3k for a 3-bay 72' Cornwell box. I just think Snap-on Boxes and Sockets especially are way over priced.

MY box weights are 260# for the bottom and 141# for the top. If you check the specs for the NEW ones they LOST 68# SOMEWHERE. Found mine on C/L for 400$, in VERY nice shape about a year ago. Yes mine are made in U.S.A. by WaterLoo.

It is a great box for the price, get it and never look back. is the snappy better, yes at 3 times the price. Do not let the truck guys get you down, where I work we look at snap-on boxes as medium quality.

If you want to talk about bang for buck I would say try to find a used truck brand. If all else fail, then get a craftsman. That's what I did.

Oh, boy. Someone thinks he's living in 1965. There's at least a dozen brands between Craftsman and truck brands in quality now. Even Sears sells brands that are better than Craftsman and worse than truck brands.

Those two are made by International in Canada. They are OK, and are the Value series. I picked up a used 56" International VRB in black last year for $550. It was 10 months old and used in a shop and wasn't quite the quality the guy needed.

For a weekend user it was fine. The top drawer was full length, and 24" deep and held all my sockets and ratchets extensions etc no problem. It had double slides on each side and easily held the weight.

Some issues I had with it:

* The drawer retaining system used detents that wore out, and even when replaced some drawers still would not "catch" closed. Annoying
* The casters were incredibly flimsy. You couldn't move it at all loaded. The HF44 practically glides compared to the International value series.

It was a good storage box, but I wanted something smaller and more vertical. I sold it for $500. For a 56" box, used Internationals are a decent deal but the HF56 is a better constructed box.

The Craftsman professional series (aka Industrial now apparently) are 200# per drawer boxes. I have never touched one but hear they compare favorably to the truck boxes, but they are of similar pricing.

That's nice but something bought years ago is not available right now for us shopping in the store. Yes sometimes they pop up randomly on CL, but that is just luck of the draw. In my area someone is selling the top box only, with a dent that was pounded out, for $250. I purchased it for $240 new from the store...sans dents...

Problem is people are asking ridiculous prices for abused Snap-on tool-boxes and tools. Snap-on is the only truck brand that even around here, I see Cornwell stuff come up every ounce in a while, but thats ounce in a great while.

The thinner steel is weaker is a good example of 60's thinking.

These tool boxes are just like anything else, a sum of their parts and design. I own the HF, and CM Griplatch boxes in the stainless and black styles, and in terms of sturdiness, they give nothing up to the HF box, thicker steel or not. The drawers don't flex, deflect, or wiggle any more than the HF drawers. They do open and close noticeably smoother though. I've got some video I can post when I get home.
