Default Double Audi

Hi all,

Welcome to my progress thread. Plan is to take pictures and give updates during my journey

So my wife and I closed on our dream house and we will get the keys September 17th. Super stoked! House is basically move in ready, besides some painting. My first big project is to get my new garage ready for storage.

So here are my ideas and a picture of the garage.

1) Walls need to be done. Any suggestions for products? I presume most people will suggest drywall?
2) Flooring; I was thinking of doing G-floor rolls? I believe this is a good budget way to get some nice clean flooring.
3) I want a work bench, tool chest on wheels as basic. The workbench will probably be a few 2x4 and a butcher tabletop from Ikea.
3) Sort out some storage spaces. Most likely metal lockers?
4) Bike racks.
5) Plan is to have a homegym in one side of the garage and then have my wife park her car on the other side. Squat/powerack and space for a bar and my rower.

Any suggestions, deals etc that I should be aware are always welcome.

The picture is from the tour when we looked at the house. Any ideas for optimizing space etc?

Congrats on your first garage. Looks like once all the "junk" from the PO is out you will have a great blank canvas.

Congrats. Best advice is to glean what you can from all the projects you see featured here and use the ones that make the most sense. For instance, I have some simple hooks drilled into ceiling joists that support our bikes. Easy, simply, cheap. No shortage of inspiration at the Garage Journal! Good luck. Enjoy your new shirt. Lucky bast#$d!

Another one with great car taste!! What a joy!

Your garage is very much the look I'm going for.. just with the added gym corner.

Thanks! Do you think that is necessary? I was contemplating doing it but came away from it again. The ceiling a pretty tall and I'm not sure I want to deal with insulating ceiling first.

Oh and nice B4!!

I would insulate the garage......if it were somewhere in the rustbelt. I wouldn't worry too much about insulation in sunny, dry CA.

For what it costs, you will one day regret it if you fail to insulate while you have the chance.

My last house in SoCal was uninsulated. 1970's track home, ZERO insulation.

We added insulation to the walls and attic. We noticed a MASSIVE improvement in how comfortable the space stayed. Well worth the money IMHO.

Congrats on the new castle by the way.

All docs for the closing signed Friday and we are good to close on Thursday.

I will be picking up this deal later today from a guy I found on CL.

Also, there is a guy local selling some white racedeck at $1,50 a square feet.. trying to see if I can get it down to $1.00

More to come

Allright all.. time for a update! We finally got the keys to our new house and we spent a few hours there today to take some measurements etc. My wife was trying to figure out what kind of color we want inside while I was measuring in the garage

So last week I told you about some Craigslist deals that I was hoping to close on.. well I scored big time.. in my opinion at least. lol Earlier this week I picked up three really nice cabinets that eventually will become the foundation of my working bench and this morning I loaded up my Avant with 500 square feet Race-deck which I got for $1/ square foot. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me!

Well what to do while wife is taken measurements? Put some garage floor in of course! As you can tell I still need to do some cutting and so but that will come. I will let the pictures do the talking

Great work! I like how your wife is helping you out, thats cool.

Are you planning to insulate it?

Consider a few sheets of Slatwall painted to match the rest of the garage maybe?
