Right then, a few years ago I had a garage and I painted the block walls white and the floor was painted with red floor paint. I fired up a extra strip light and I was thinking I was doing well. All tidy and sorted.

Well then things happened and it got full of 'stuff' and it ended up looking like this.

At about the same time I found this forum :( I then knew I had to up my game a bit, and I also could see what was possible.

So a few weeks ago we moved house :) and now my morris has a new home.

this was the day we moved in and all the junk you 'find' from such a event.

It is not big by GJ standards just over 6m x 6m which is 19' x 19'.

But I am as pleased as pie.

Done so far walls and roof painted,

Have started to insulate the loft space and floor this out. And got some more of the 'stuff' up there out the way.

And have an electrician all lined up to come in later this week to put a new 32A feed into the garage so I can get the compressor wired up, and he is going to fire up 5 more 5ft T8 strip-lights.

But the next BIG job is the floor I have gone for the porcelain tiles and did a test lay out last night think I am going to go for this look?

mainly as I am looking to get a neat edge along the door way opening? any other suggestions?

Planing to have 4mm (1/6") gap between them. Might make a start Friday night :)

Looks sharp to me. I like when the tiles are laid in a brick pattern like you've shown.

I REALLY like when the tiles are laid at an angle. You could do a border around the perimeter to get the clean finish at the door openings.

either way, it should look epic in there once its all buttoned up.

Love the Morris "Woody" For the tiles I would keep the grout line as small as possible, maybe 1/8" or less. Keep us posted.

Thanks have had the Morris since I was 15 so 25 year now, it is not ever going to go.

when I bought the tiles had a chat with the guy about fitting them and he did suggest butting them up tight next to each other. But I think having some gap between them might make it a bit easer to 'tweak' any that might be a bit tricky as this will be by far the biggest tile job I have had a shot at...

Well, as an update I have crossed the half way point with the flooring project.

Got to say it is a bigger and more time consuming job than I really grasped, and working round all the stuff a car, has not made it any easier :)

Also managed to get the work bench in.

Not quite finished yet and not quite clear in my head what to do with the wall behind the bench, as keen to get something on there to that is easy to wipe down. So tested the look of the old shelves. But think I will buy some ply and paint it grey.

I have also managed to get about half the loft above the garage insulated and floored out.

Still waiting on the electrician to start the re-wire.

The garage looks like it is going to be quite nice.
Love the woody, my first car was a two door Morris Minor 1000.

Well got another step closer today, had the sparky round and the ring main is now in place for the sockets, went for the dado trunking to try and keep it looking all smart :) the dado has 3 tracks in it so going to look into running a air line in one of them.

Also started to strip the kitchen out of the house to make way for the new one. Guess where the old cupboards are going ;)

Well after a few weeks of work being busy and needing to remove and refit a kitchen to the house and a wall coming down (oh the joys) I have now finally managed to
- Get all the tiles down in the garage. (still need grouted)
- Got some of the old kitchen cupboards painted and up in the garage
- Almost got the compressor plumbed in gone for 15mm copper for the main run round the garage.

Still waiting for the sparky to come back and finish off some bits.

is the moggy road going ?

In a word - NO

I took it off the road 19 years ago  I did get it started this year and it is running all ok. zero rust on it.

Really it is just needing some TLC and a set of bushes and some brakes on it and we are away.

But got to replace a gear box on this first

Which I suspect could be a bit of a job

Well some of the the old kitchen cabinets and draws are now installed and painted them the same grey as the bottom of the walls. PC in and running but need to buy some kit to strengthen the wifi signal as it is dropping out at times.

Got one of the old kitchen radiators hung on the wall should have the plumber round this weekend to get that working, looking forward to seeing what improvement that makes.

Well that is the floor all grouted and finished, have done a few small jobs in there so far and I have to say that having a warm dry draft free garage to work in is just so much nicer.

Any way the first proper project has now been started. To fit this

Into the old Jag.

Engine and gearbox have to come out as one, and so have a fair number of other jobs to be done while the unit is out. For added excitement the current unit is non overdrive and the new unit is with an overdrive...

So, no relation to Lord Hesketh I take it? No Teddy bear mascots and champagne breakfasts at your manor? :D

No relation. However all my cars do have said teddy on the back ;) if the SNP had not dropped the drink drive limit then that could have been a option for breakfast.
