I've lurked on Garage Journal on and off for quite some time and now that my house build is complete, I decided to make an account. There are some seriously impressive builds on this forum, inspirational to say the least.

I'm starting off with a 21'-4" by 24'-8" 2 car garage with a lofty 14' high ceiling. That ceiling height will certainly be appreciated once I get around to putting a 4 post lift in for car storage and light maintenance.

Short term plans consist of RaceDeck flooring (If I can ever decide on a style and pattern), installation of security cameras, and the garage is in desperate need of additional outlets and lighting...

Here's how it looks as of last night:

That E36 M3 is going to be taking a lot of my time as well, I bought it back from the insurance company after it was flooded by Sandy. So I'll be balancing the garage outfitting with the E36 M3 rebuild.

Ohhhh Baby! Gonna keep tabs on this one. Your garage is screaming for some high light tracks for the garage door. Since it looks like a new build and there aren't openers yet you may want to consider the Liftmaster 8500 jackshaft mount so you don't clutter the space above the cars. Can't believe that height! Good luck and enjoy the site! Love the wheel choices on both of your M's.

Awesome ceiling height and cars!

Thank you! The E92 M3 replaced my previous E92 M3 that was flooded, and I've owned that E36 M3 for about 12 years now. I couldn't let that one go to the scrap yard...

I was screaming for them during the house's construction! See how far that got me? Those are definitely on my to do list though, I actually wanted completely different garage doors, but the builder had already ordered the standard units. I figure once I replace the doors, I'll go with the high lift tracks, and door openers. Thanks for the Liftmaster 8500 suggestion, I'll be sure to check into them!

Also, your garage(s) are certainly inspirational! Beautiful work and cars!

So what was the water height in your garage during the storm?

Thank you! BTW I'm just starting to go through your signature link. Unreal what you went through during Sandy.

I went to the BMW Welt last year and witnessed a few deliveries. Good on you for taking advantage of that amazing program.

I've since moved, but here's a pic once the water receded. The high-water line is visible on the garage. I believe we had ~4' in the street...

Nice Bimmers.

I installed the 8500 myself - it wasn't that hard of a job.

Just read the instructions like 3x.

If you can - get a shed and place all your lawn equipment out there.

That **** takes up sooo much room.

Yeah, the pictures that I posted really don't do the storm justice. I actually had a hard time even taking pictures after the damage, most of them were just for insurance documentation purposes. It's not an event that I would ever like to live through again (new house is NOT in a flood zone).

BMW Welt is amazing, I think I've gone there ~5 times now. Amazing place, and the behind the scenes tour that they gave me was mind blowing, well at least for a BMW nut!

Thank you! I've gotten so many great ideas from this site that I don't even know where to start. Very nice E30 you have there! I'd love to get one some day.

I cant wait to see your build, and I love the rides.

Thank you and likewise! I have been trying VERY hard not to buy a 2002... It's at the top of my dream car list. Would love to build a 2002 Turbo tribute.

I cannot believe how much space it consumes, and I don't even have that much yet! I'm trying to hold off on getting a shed until I can get a fence put up, but that's the plan for sure.

The E92.... the color is super, absolute fabulous car, if you have more pics of the car do not be humble to show them :bounce: Oh..... and nice garage too ;)

Thank you sir! The paint was ordered through BMW Individual, it's one of 8 Santorini Blue cars in the US! More pics? That can be arranged: ;)

Once you put a lift in, and tool storage - it fills up with the quickness.

I'm glad I can throw my mower, leaf blower, weed eater, and the misc **** that I don't want into my shed......

Love the cars. I've got 2 E46 M3's myself, and really salivating over the new M4's. Looking forward to following your build.

The more I look at your garage. The more I like it. Even though it is a blank slate, it has a lot of character and very interesting design. It could just be the bad *** cars sitting in it though.

Wow! Very nicely done!!! I'm looking to get a shed once the fencing is up, so hopefully in the spring. That should free p a lot of space in the garage for sure.

Thanks! I'd love to add an e46 M3 to the fleet at some point. They are wonderful machines... I've been thinking about the M4 as well, but leaning more towards the upcoming M2. The size of that car seems just right, the M3/4 is HUGE now!

I'm subscribing to this! I love your E36!! Gorgeous colors on both cars.

Thank you sir! I'll try not to disappoint. The E36 only has ~75k miles on it, so I'm hoping to restore it to better than it's pre-storm state. It actually looks pretty good, I just want to play it safe and replaced the electrical system.

Nice 335is!!! You don't see them very often. Such a great car in its own right. I love the factory wheels too!

I think the ceiling height and the stairs really help, as does the beam. I am so happy that the house was structured such that there wasn't a need for columns in the garage (hence massive beam). The lack of a central column adds some valuable usable floor space. Haha, thanks, the M3's don't hurt!

nice.
i'm an E92 owner as well... of the hopped up 335i variety...

It's nice to see such a large BMW contingent on this forum!

Have you done the E36 rebuild yet?

I had been so busy with the house build, that the E36 just sat. I'm going to start working on now. What Skyline do you have? I want to get my hands on an R32 now that '89s are legal in the US.

That's not a bad idea. You never know what may get shorted out or contaminated. Only 75k though is awesome! Any mod plans or just restore for now?

R34's are now legal in Canada lol. Theirs a bunch landed ready for sale already lol.

Yeah, electrical is really my only concern with the car. I stripped the interior immediately, motor was drained of oil and refilled, then hand cranked. Since then it's just sat.

I was just in Canada a couple of weeks back, I was really hoping to see some Skylines while in Toronto, but only saw an R35... That said, the machinery in Toronto was unreal!

I suppose this is the first addition of many to my new garage. You cannot have a proper workshop without a proper work bench. I have a much more elegant setup in mind for the future (I'm looking at you 5mall5nail5!), but for now I needed something to bridge the gap. I actually stumbled upon this bench while wandering the isles of Home Depot in search of odds and ends for the house. I went online, read a few reviews, and promptly picked one up. For less than $70 I am amazed with the quality of the bench. For now it's perfect for the garage, once I upgrade I'll move this bench to the basement workshop. The box boasts that the bench is "Ready to use in about 3 minutes" I had it fully assembled and ready to go in 1 minute, 21 seconds. Boom!

Actually, I have a highly modded G35 Sedan. (In Japan...it's called a Skyline sedan). But it's for sale now to make room for an M5. But I have also 2 BMWs and a Porsche as well.

BTW, I think the ONLY solution for restoration of a submerged M3 is to make a race car out of it. There's just no way anything fabric or leather is going to not rot, and EVERYTHING electrical will need to be replaced. So gut the car, put in a cage, a new (abridged) wiring harness, a race seat, and go have some fun.

Awesome E92 and E36.
Are you going to track the E36?
Good luck registering an R34 in the US since that stuff went down.

I am in NJ and actually have a shed that I am selling. 12x18 and like new Amish built.....Check my threads for info and PM me if interested.

Nice fleet! You'd be surprised at the condition of the car, the water receded rapidly, and I cleaned the car out ASAP. Chances are, it will be a track build though. The car was pristine, but I'd rather track this over the E92.

Awesome E92 and E36.

I wish I could get a legal R34 here... I was thinking about getting an R32 at some point.

That shed looks great, I'm just not ready to get anything yet. Furnishing a 5br house isn't easy!

Cool bench, at a really low cost!

Thanks, now I just need to find a nice vise for it...

Time to liven the walls up a little bit... I searched around a bit and found a company that makes removable vinyl graphics, stripes, letters, etc. for walls. I ordered their 50 color sample pack, and matched my car's M badge stripes as best I could, with great results. I then ordered 3, 3" wide by 36' long rolls which arrived yesterday. Once I decide on the right location, I'll get these up and post some after pics!

http://wallsneedlove.com/pages/easy-stripe

From their site:

Easy Stripe is self-adhesive striping used to decorate walls, doors, bikes, laptops, autos & more. It sticks easily and removes clean. Each roll is 36 ft (11m) long with multiple widths and colors available, so you can achieve any design or pattern. Easier, faster, and more affordable than painting stripes, this is the answer you've been looking for. No more mess or harsh fumes. We stand behind our product & 100% guarantee you'll love it. Unroll your creativity.

I'm nervous to put it up, then regret the location. I think the vinyl can actually be removed and reapplied though, so I could always redo it. I thought you might like it ;)

Nice rides, great space!

I seriously envy your ceiling height...a lift would look great in there ;)

I'm doing some research now on them! The ceiling height really sold me on the design.

Nice stripes. I may have to look into that. I think I've seen your car over on Bimmerpost. I'm a M Fan as well. Current stable (E92 M3 Euro Delivery, E39 M5, E36 M3). My wife sold her E30 M3 that she had for 5 years, but wasn't driving enough.

I'm trying to find space to keep adding to the collection :)

I can understand the hesitation for sure. The high cinder block walls helps you to make the decision. Either very high or just above that level i would think.
