A friend has an old service station and this driveway bell has been hanging on the wall for years, they don't use it. I asked if I could have it. now I got something else to hang on my garage wall. cleaned it up and got it working. quick coat of paint.

yea, you can get them still, and not to bad of a price for them. you can still get parts also. but this one is from a gas station that I worked at way back in high school. I have heard this damn bell go off thousands of times when there was still full service gas stations here.

Sadly...I'm old enough to remember them too. The fact that it's the same bell from the place you worked at is super cool in my book...

I listened to one of those for a while in the summer of '83 while pumping gas at the local Exxon.

There used to be one in the shop area of my wife's family business that I don't think that they are using anymore. I might need to see if it's still there. . .

I've seen a few small greasy spoon-type restaurants that still use them for the drive-thru.

So is it going to ding every time you pull into your garage? lol

I am old enough to remember seeing them as a child, but too young to have seen a shop that actually used it. I remember jumping up and down on them as a child. Loved them. Cool score.

Too cool. Brings back memories of working part time in my neighbors service station in 1966...we pumped the gas , washed the windows, checked under the hood, checked the tires etc. Gas was .29 for regular, and I think I was paid $1.25 an hour, but had to buy my own Phillips 66 shirts.

Yeah, the station attendants just loved that!! We used to ride our bikes over them.

Ah the memories!!!

Love it! Haven't seen one of those since my days as a service station attendant, about 45 years ago!

There are several local BBQ and drive-in restaurants around here local with them, and even a few service stations that still have them.

Now that has me wanting one for the wife's parking spot in the garage :shocking:
