So I picked this up local from craigslist for $10.
I'm not 100% if it's from the 70's or 80's but I'd love some input if y'all have any!

I plan on fully restoring it to either black or "craftsman" red.
Any advice/comments are welcome!

Craftsman Crown Top logo = 1959(?)-1971/72(?)
Plastic handle w/ends facing inward = after mid 60's (?)

Others may have more knowledge that might narrow it further, but that may be as close as we can get.

Here's a pair of boxes my apprentice and I did.

Go for it. Alot of fun, and you get something useful when you're done.

Hi, I do love the thread here. Maybe, I can relate to it. Speaking of a vintage tool box. I also got an idea and was able to grab an old bowling bag that I used as a tool bag. However, I do hope , I could have a vintage box just like what you have posted here. It is really cool!

I have some Craftsman boxes similar condition to yours that are slated for restoration someday. I will follow your results with interest. Regarding color choice, I typically want to stay with original colors but, there are so many of these boxes out there I think why not go with your favorite choice. The blue one posted here looks great. Black, red or something different will look great. Now you got me thinking about color combos. Hmmmmm…..

About a half hour of cleaning and sanding I got the right side of the lid looking pretty good. I'm using 400 grit sand paper as well as 240. A wire brush was used for small crevices and only denatured alcohol for cleaning.

More to come!
