So some of you may remember that I bought this toolbox off CL not too long ago

So I did some clean up and paint removal on it today. I found the factory marking on the left side at the bottom verses the back as I would have expected.

This reveals that it is a KR-61 as you guys told me. And it shows that it was made in 1956.

So now I have some questions....
What does the 3000 mean or stand for?
According the collecting snap on this box was made from 1948 to 1955, however my box is dated 1956.... Anyone have an explanation for that?
Also, the KR-61 and the KR-361 have different emblems than my box has. Why?
I cannot see where holes were filled for the old emblem.
It does not look like the lid or cover has been replaced, and if it has they did an expert job.
It does not seem that the emblem I have is correct for this era of box. Any ideas?

So, what do the experts here say.......???

I'm thinking collecting SO goes by the catalogs when stating their information. I have found you can't 100% trust the catalogs because they do not cover 100% of the product line.

The Snap On logo emblems change over time, and you're right, yours is not the original. In 1956 th Snap On signature without a background would have been correct.

Someone put a more modern badge on it than was originally on the box from the factory. It should have had the 60's chrome scipt badge. Try removing that badge and see if you can see a mark left from the other badge. Take a picture of the drawer slides on the bottom drawer, are they the same height as the other drawers or taller? The catalogs are pretty accurate, the box info page on the collecting snap on site however can be a bit off most of the time.
