Let's just say on this post I do not like using the term rare because it drives up the price; instead I say they are still out there to be found and leave it at that.

Short story about the tool in question because I can not find much information about the tool, the Author or the Company that made it. This much I know, the Pat. was applied on Dec. 19th 1919 and Granted on Jun 29th 1920 and produced by the Parrot Head Tool Co., in Oklahoma City, Ok.

A search for more information about the inventor only turned up his pat. for the Automobile Radiator pat 1,451,871 which was Granted on April 17th 1923.

I did not have much luck with a 1920 phone book search listing that tool company.

(Special Notes) It goes without saying if any GJ member has any information such as advertisements, tool company records, or the tool in question please post them up.

Just for comparison sake and not to confuse you I have another parrot head design from the Barcalo Buffalo Co. that can be found a little more easily then the parrot head tool co. pliers.

Kind of curious about the one handle being a bit pointy.

Anything else a collector would care about, like made out of pure cancer (cadmium) or whatever?

The handle is made that way (pointy) because it was designed to pull out staples. As far as I can tell the tool is chrome not cadmium.

2oolhound lol it took me 40 years just to find that one example, but on the other hand you should be able to locate the Barcalo in less time:beer:

I used a pair of these design over the weekend to unscrew a bathroom faucet strainer/aerator. I loved the 90deg bend vs the slight bend on channel locks.

^what kind of staples were these pliers designed for removing?

Definitely not much out there on these guys, as Woody noted. Only thing he missed is the announcement appearing in several different publications.
